So, why is it that you can sometimes just say you're in the Rumble, but you have to "earn" your spot other times? I mean, I know the answer is "they don't give a shit", but it's weird.

Thanks, Cole! I thought the women's Rumble ended when somebody climbed a pole & grabbed a big X, with a cage outside for getting pinned.

That's not getting buried. That is losing a back-and-forth match to the number two guy on the show. I could have done without Cole's terrible shilling but there was nothing wrong with the match itself. Except Roman gets to take every finisher and kick out and will with near 100% either win the Rumble or main event WM, While Joe, Bruan, and others will languish around doing not much of anything besides beat people up for a quick pop before maybe getting a WM pre-show match appearance. This booking is precisely why crowds are an at an all-time low for them and are mostly dead silent these days, Everyone besides Vince's flavor of the month is booked into oblivion but I'm supposed to care, buy the merch, buy the network, check out my soon to be failed revival of the XFL. But yeah I'm sure Jow will get that momentum back long after it ceases to matter to anyone. The crowd sounded far from silent during the Roman-Joe match. To be fair, I addressed the "silent crowds," once before. You're probably comparing today's crowds to either the Attitude era or the kayfabe days. If it's the Attitude era, the difference is those crowds were made up largely of a bunch of drunk 18-30 year olds who came to see violence, profanity and hit chicks. Today's crowd is made up of parents with iPhones who brought their kids to the show. Common sense is going to tell you which crowd will be more live, and it has nothing to do with storyline quality. |
