RAW rings in the New Year tonight from Miami, and with the Royal Rumble just a few weeks away, expect to see a lot more men and women declare entry to the big over the top rope spectacular...
Last week, Roman Reigns lost it against Samoa Joe when Joe targeted Reigns' elbow in an attempt to put Reigns on the shelf alongside fellow Shield member Dean Ambrose - the Big Dog then launched a relentless attack on Joe, and shoved the referee, getting disqualified. Tonight, RAW General Manager Kurt Angle has ordered a rematch for Reigns' Intercontinental Championship, but this time, if Reigns is disqualified, he will lose the title. Joe is one of the smartest men in wrestling, so look for him to do whatever it takes to rile Reigns up - will the Samoan Submission Machine walk out of Miami with the IC Title?
The AmericanAirlines Arena was the venue for Brock Lesnar's shocking return to the WWE six years ago, and the Universal Champion returns there tonight, several weeks ahead of his title defence against Braun Strowman and Kane at the Royal Rumble. The Monster Among Men and the Big Red Machine have been destroying folks ever since getting the title shot, but Lesnar won't want to be outdone. Something tells us that a few F5s may be handed out to some poor fools...
As well as the IC Title, the Cruiserweight Title is on the line tonight, as Enzo Amore defends the purple belt against Cedric Alexander. The North Carolinian made the most of a second chance in the recent Number One Contenders tournament, defeating Drew Gulak in the final to earn the title shot, and as a result, there's been problems with the Zo Train, as Nia Jax is coming between Amore and Gulak. Can Alexander capitalise to claim his first championship in the WWE?
There are new RAW Tag Team Champions, as Seth Rollins ended up winning the titles with Jason Jordan on Christmas Day, dethroning The Bar. Rollins isn't entirely trusting in Jordan, but the GM's son claims he's better than Dean Ambrose. It remains to be seen if Jordan and Rollins will gel as a team, but what is a sure thing is that Cesaro and Sheamus will be looking to get the titles back sooner rather than later.
Elias is the only male RAW Superstar to have declared entry for the Royal Rumble Match so far (with Randy Orton and Shinsuke Nakamura entering on SmackDown), and Asuka is the sole female RAW star to declare entry for the Women's match (SmackDown have entered Naomi, Natalya and Ruby Riott). Will we get more entries announced tonight - and will we find out how many women will be competing?
The most dangerous man on RAW right now may well be Hideo Itami, as his GTS broke Brian Kendrick's nose and orbital bone last week. He followed that up on 205 Live by submitting Gentleman Jack Gallagher, proving that he has multiple ways to get the job done. Whatever's in store for Itami, he'll definitely be an interested observer in the Amore/Alexander match tonight...
All this and plenty more on the first RAW of 2018, tonight from 8/7c on USA!
