That he defeated Arn motherf***ing Anderson for the tv title. That was bullshit.

Good write-up.
I always felt bad for the guy. In addition to being placed in a no-win situation, he seemed to have some major mental health issues at a time when really nobody (especially in the worlds of sports and cable television) were taking them seriously.
Renegade and Joe Gomez were a pretty good team, so much so that Gomez became PWI's #3 runner-up for rookie of the year that year. Going back and watching their old Worldwide matches, there was some chemistry there, and they could have been better utilized considering how barren the WCW tag team landscape became only two years later.

He honestly just makes me that much happier WCW died. They trotted this guy out in a situation he couldn't possibly live up to, then just turned him into a scapegoat for it, as if it was his fault. He wasn't the first or last guy wrestling has done that to, but he's a more tragic example than most.

I still wonder how they convinced Arn to drop the strap to him. Arn is either a true professional (and the work he did to put over Erik Watts is a testament to that) or he got one helluva payoff to do a job.

It was originally going to be a total squash a la Warrior/Honky Tonk Man. Flair spoke up and said if he was going over, he went 10 minutes. Arn at no point was mentioned to object.
