Match goes about six minutes and then Gable and Benjamin win clean
Out comes a second ref and we get a replay showing literally both men weren't the legal men in the pin
Ref says "Whoops my bad!" restarts the match
Gable and Benjamin lose clean in like two minutes
WHAT WAS THE POINT OF THAT? To make eveyone involved look bad? Because that's what it did. This didn't make The Usos look endearing, made Gable and Benjamin look like shit, made the ref look dumb as bricks, and make every single screwy finish from here on out also look like shit because why didn't THAT get an instant replay?
This is probably leading to a bullshit 2 out of 3 falls match because we just gotta continue this torture, but this was literally a half hour of nonsense to kick off the first Smackdown of the year, absolute Road Dogg Shit.

All of WWE must now have instant replays. Every match from now on.
If not, 2018 Vince McMahon is a creative failure beyond redemption. He belongs in a landfill.

I hate it when heels win by shenanigans.
Especially telegraphing finishes.

I actually liked that match. Thought the Dusty finish was creative involving both illegal men.

I mean, I prefer it over the idea of Gable and Benjamin winning the belts.

It's also nonsense to do it in a nothing match with a face team that isn't actually going to go on to win or anything. It's one thing when you do the Dusty finish to rob the faces of their win in a way that sets up another, more emotionally invested match where the audience is rooting even harder for the faces after the moment got taken away from them as much as from the wrestlers, leading to a big match where the faces manage to win in spite of shenanigans and have their real feelgood moment. But for a team the crowd isn't that super into and who isn't likely to actually pick up the win, you're clubbing the audience over the head with overbooked nonsense without the actual payoff that's supposed to come with it and give a reason for the trick. Doing it to give a screwy 50/50 nothing finish and then go two more minutes on a random Smackdown is just pointless.

I actually liked that match. Thought the Dusty finish was creative involving both illegal men. I thought the idea of Gable & Benjamin polishing off the wrong Uso is at least plausible because they look so much alike, but them forgetting which of their own team is legal just makes them look dumb. I'm guessing this leads to a stipulation match at the Rumble, possibly with Tornado rules.

Ironically, they made it a lot easier for the casual viewer to know which Uso is which by pointing out that Jimmy is the smaller of the two. Jey is noticeably heavier.

Ironically, they made it a lot easier for the casual viewer to know which Uso is which by pointing out that Jimmy is the smaller of the two. Jey is noticeably heavier. I still couldn't really tell which Uso was bigger on the wide shot of the tags, as it's not like one is suddenly a cruiserweight and the other one is a super-heavyweight. I know Dove suggested in the Smackdown thread that one of them have a bandana tied around a limb so there would be a visual cue that Alpha 2.0 could easily miss, but be spotted on a replay. Or they could have worn different t-shirts for the same effect. It just feels like they wrote this match just so they could have a dusty finish, and not whether or not a dusty finish was the best way to go about setting up another Gable and Benjamin match.

I mean, I prefer it over the idea of Gable and Benjamin winning the belts. I take Gable and Benjamin winning the belts if it means we'd get an official Rusev Day face turn Which we probably wouldn't it'd just make this Usos feud last longer by default Which it probably will anyway when Gable and Benjamin file for bullshit and get some kind of 2 out of 3 falls match and steal the belts I feel like there's so much potential tag team wise being wasted on Smackdown right now...

Any chance we can get "Check the replay" chants for every screwy finish?

I don't want this to lead to a replay can of worms. It slows real sports down to an annoying level. Screwy finishes are such a trope in wrestling that this would be run to the ground almost immediately.

I was wondering if this was tied in, in some way, to the recent NBA replay mistakes that have been taking place the last couple of weeks. ref makes bad call, goes to reply, finds another missed call but one that can't be addressed via replay when watching for the first mistake. "my bad" the next day. but unlike the wwe, the game doesn't get restarted from that point. so wwe > nba ?

Unless they're going to be consistent about wrestling referees suddenly being competent and able to change incorrect calls it was dumb. And wrestling is too reliant on the heels being able to bend the rules and exploit refs not paying attention to do this consistently without really limiting themselves creatively.

I mean, it was dumb and everything but I’m not against more matches against these two teams. It’s hardly Big Show vs Kane.
