Apparently news is coming out that Emily Dole, who was Mt. Fiji in GLOW, has sadly passed away today. From what I have been informed, she had been in poor health so here is hoping that at least with this, the pain has finally ended.
EDIT: Here is a story from Squared Circle Sirens.

Sadly I remember her and Big Bad Mama both were in ill health in the Glow documentary that came out 5-6 years ago.

I LOVED her as a kid. She was legit my favorite wrestler during the 80s.

R.I.P.
She was easy to fall in love with in that GLOW documentary. By all accounts a wonderful person and one of the most memorable of the GLOW roster.

Here's that time Fiji lifted up Bob Eubanks on Card Sharks:

RIP
Yes, from the GLOW doc on Netflix that actually inspired the creators of the GLOW tv series, Mt Fiji was in bad health, but not bad spirits as she had gone through a lot since GLOW ended. I think it's fair to say Fuji was the most popular GLOW wrestler, especially with kids because she feuded with the big heels Mathilda the Hun and Big Bad Mama.

Rest in peace, ma'am.
Reading her Wiki page, there's a hell of a story about her and her family and the LAPD... damn, I'm happy that justice in that was finally served.

She came across as a really kind hearted human being on the GLOW documentary, with a genuine love for her days in wrestling and the people she shared that chapter of her life with.
Hopefully the focus on her during the documentary, as well as the heightened interest in GLOW over the past year due to the Netflix series means she didn't pass without realizing how many people cared for her and how appreciated she was.

When you think of it, she's probably one of the only plus-size women wrestlers that were ever done right in North America. Everyone else was either made into a joke, or the companies for whatever reason wouldn't pull the trigger on them. Or they needed to work in Japan to be taken seriously.
Yes there were still the food jokes and GLOW's slapstick comedy, but 1) Fiji was pretty much their version of Andre the Giant and 2) she was probably better at being a babyface than even Andre in his heyday. She was the last line of defense for destroying GLOW's bullies, yes, and in general she just came off as being better at being the positive role model character, and from what I know it wasn't all just a character.

RIP. Watched the GLOW documentary this past summer and seeing her getting the chance to reunite with her old castmates made me so happy.
