Ember Moon is a shitty champion

Her gimmick is this weird concoction of a bunch of shit that doesn't go together, I personally hate the contact lenses but that's just me. Her finish is over AF, in fairness, I am curious what Austin thinks of it?

But come on. She jobbed to Asuka twice, and then won the strap once Asuka was gracious enough to just leave NXT undefeated. Finally, you are champion... once it got easier for you to win the belt, that is!

Don't get me wrong. I didn't want anyone to go over Asuka. Still don't! I want her undefeated for years to come, and that's not a joke, I think she's one of the best female talents they've ever had, if not talents overall.

But Ember is one of the few people to job to Asuka more than once, in title matches at that, and then being the first champion when Asuka goes? There's not even a real break in the title lineage.

At least when she jobbed to asuka they weren't exactly clean finishes from what I remember . I am not a ember fan but it did seem like she had asukas number and had they had another match before asuka got injured I could of seen her going over .

the first one wasn't clean, the second time was clean.

Asuka cheated again but Ember countered and then I believe Asuka locked in the Asuka lock and won without cheating.

I know they were going for a hometown pop with her finally winning but I think it would have been better storyline wise to have been screwed out of it in Houston... or to have turned heel in desperation to win it.

Screwed and not pinned she has a case for being built for a comeback chance.

The desperation heel turn would have flowed from earlier promos like from Brooklyn, with the idea of this is her third shot and not knowing how many more she'd get with the hungry locker room behind her.

I think they just need to pick a lane in regards to whether she’s meant to actually be a supernatural character or not. By all means, use the imagery and such for your look, but you can’t be a dark, mystical brooding being while having an against-all-odds underdog story at the same time...

even if they just go the wrestler with a flare for the dramatic like Finn's original demon schtick.

that'd be one hting but they try to go... she's this dark and mysterious supernatural being!

then post things like that... or her at the NXT training center being taunted by the Iconic Duo... and a few other promos.

the two things just can't possibly mesh.

The problem is that yes, it reinforces that she choked against Asuka, but had Peyton Royce won the 4-way, it would make Ember look like an EVEN BIGGER choker who STILL can't win the belt even without Asuka lording over the entire division like a Colossus.

She needs to finally come out to the ring dressed like a werewolf. She can only not be a werewolf for so long, eventually you would think that she has to turn into a werewolf.

I know it's often used as a easy get out, but with how they'd booked into the corner, the angle should have written itself.

She chokes against Asuka twice, then she's finally gone, Ember has a shot again... and still loses, I'd go with either a new woman, or Nikki Cross, who ACTUALLY pushed Asuka harder than anyone and needed weapons to be defeated. Then Ember goes mental in frustration, storms to the back and in the following weeks interrupts every single women's match, beating up both competitors and demanding another shot etc.

I initially misread the title as 'Ember Moon is a slutty champion' which made me think, "Jesus, what the hell happened on NXT last night!??"

I think had Cross won and then Ember chased her for the belt and won it, she'd come off as a much more credible champ. Or say during the match Ember hit the Eclipse on Cross goes for the pin, 1-2-boom Royce punts her in the head and then quickly covers Cross for the win. Ember won the match but Royce stole the win and then Ember can go after the belt that's rightfully hers.

It sounds strange saying her losing and chasing the belt makes her look stronger, but it's her overcoming a new challenge instead of winning the belt because the last challenge (Asuka) removed itself.
