"How can someone I gave so much respect to at the beginning of his career give me so little at the end of mine." This is what their story should be about this year if they go through with the match at Wrestlemania. Not that it will happen. Im not believing it will until i see the build on my screen but yeah. Undertaker shook Cena's hand after his first match. When Cena feuded with roman he called taker a "broken down veteran with a bad hip at the end of his career". Respect is a big part of both cena and taker so it would work as long as the writers and road agents have enough patience and care for these two legends to tell it. How would you keep cena face in this though?

No thanks, I've really had enough of Shoot Promo Cena after the Roman Shit, the second he starts Taker should shoot him with a lightening bolt or some shit.

I think they'd handle it akin the HHH/Taker feud.
Cena: I've done it all, The new stars are rising up, it's time for me to ride off into the suns-..
*GONG*
Taker attacks Cena.
Cena says he refuses to put down a Legend at WrestleMania.
Taker one ups him and says to put both their careers on the line.
Done.

I always wondered why it never happened. Then during a tag match they briefly exchanged holds and everybody even the little kids booed Cena.

They've missed their shot. They had a solid window between 2011 and 2014 to do it. He was the last full timer to create genuine intrigue over who would win.

Best idea is no idea, don't do it. Taker can't go anymore.

It would have been a great match to do a decade ago.
I have zero desire whatsoever to see an Undertaker match that isn't Undertaker vs Kane just flinging lightning and fireballs at eachother.

They should do Undertaker vs Kane in both guys final match, 20 years after the first. Wow, I just got excited about Undertaker vs Kane in 2018.

I just don't see how this can happen now. WWE (and probably almost entirely Vince himself) seemingly did everything possible to take the shine off of the Undertaker and his Wrestlemania streak.
I mean Brock beats Taker and ends the Streak? Fine. That makes sense. Yeah, Brock's a part-timer, but they'll get more out of an unstoppable Lesnar than out of a guy who wrestles only once a year. They had the chance to make a Beast who didn't have to wrestle so often than people got sick of him winning all the time. That does make a certain kind of sense. It also put into question of Taker would ever come back. And if he did come back, one more loss would likely be the end of it.
And that's what happened. Taker vs Reigns really looked to be the last match for the Undertaker. And it was booked terribly, because in Vince's warped mind the way to get fans to love somebody they hated was to have him take away somebody that they loved. It's been nearly a year and I *still* don't get that. Obviously the fans didn't get behind Roman. He *retired the Undertaker*. That's how you turn somebody heel-for-life, not set them up to be the face of your company for the next decade. And then, after the dust had settled, you had John Cena make that stupid comment about how he's not some broken down veteran with a bad hip to *completely* bury the guy.
So what happens if Taker/Cena happens? What's in it for Cena? He becomes only the *third* person to beat a guy at one particular show? The second person to do so *in a row*? That's not a big deal. At least not on paper. What's in it for Undertaker? He beats John Cena? He's done that. A lot of people have done that. Punk, Bryan, Owens, Brock, Roman, etc. Hell, Undertaker did it years ago. So if he wins, what, he goes out on a win? He gets to retire "on top"? I doubt even Taker wants that. If some of the backstage rumors are to be believed, he was always in favor of doing things "the right way" which meant going out on his back.
And what's the match going to be like? I don't know if maybe I'm alone in this, but ever since the Lesnar match, I've watched Taker's Wrestlemania bouts terrified for the health of the guy. He got concussed to the point where he barely knew where he was during Lesnar's match. There've been a lot of injuries to veterans lately (especially here in Japan) and I don't want to see a guy who entertained me since I was in grade school spend his post-career years in a wheelchair or worse. I don't want to see one more plancha over the top rope. Hell, I don't want to see another "old-school". 'Taker means a lot to a lot of people, and getting crippled in front of 80,000 people and LIVE on the Network is like my worst wrestling nightmare.
BUT... If they're gonna do the match, I'd keep it really, really simple.
Taker only has one regret and that's that he never had a Wrestlemania match with John Cena. It's not about titles, they've both had their share of those. It's not about the Streak, as that's done and buried. It's not about stealing the show or career vs career. Taker wants a match with John Cena, at Wrestlemania, and win, lose, or draw, it's Taker's last go around.
The build-up is mostly free of the usual Taker mind games. Just video clips of Taker's former opponents and allies talking about the match. Get as many people as you can for this. Brother Love, Paul Bearer and Superfly's kids, CM Punk, Nathan Jones, all record videos to hype the match. Get people from outside the company to comment. You could probably get guys like Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks to say a few things. Get celebrities and others to record their thoughts. Don't get all cute and weird.
I didn't mean for this post to be so long.

It’s a bad idea. Undertaker should stay retired, and a younger talent could benefit going over Cena on the biggest stage.
