When he first showed up in WWE, I wasn't a huge fan. He seemed so bland to me. He was very much in his father's and brother's shadows. Dusty had that IT factor and Dustin was/is great as Goldust. Here comes Cody Rhodes and he doesn't stand out. I've been watching New Japan lately and I love his work. He plays a great heel. He's cocky and smug and you want to hate the guy. He's also kind of cool as well.

His current incarnation feels like a distillation of everything that worked well from all of his prior characters.
There's no reason he couldn't be a top guy in WWE.

I think if they let him run with his character, he could easily be a top guy, if not the top guy. He's really come in as his own in the last year.

He works the perfect WWE Style With his current look and his wife as his manager he can be a WWE champ in WWE and I say this as someone who hasn't been a big fan of his indy work thus far
