Unfortunately, Snitsky and him screwed up the elimination spot and he fell to the floor leaving Snitsky and Viscera as the final two.
It wasn’t his fault.

I had always heard that it was one of those cases of the WWE fearing that their fan base would become confused if they had to distinguish between “The Animal” Batista and “Animal” the Road Warrior, so they had him start going by just “Road Warrior”. I actually sort of liked him when he was doing this gimmick. I knew it wasn’t going anywhere, but I sort of dug the old gritty biker look. I could have seen him as a good Gatekeeper type. I remember this. Batista. Animal. And George Steele. Clearly too many Animals for one roster.

I had quit watching by this time, but since there was no Hawk, this seemed fine to me, reverting to his old gimmick. The E was hellbent on splitting him from Hawk, and now that Hawk was actually gone, they begrudgingly pushed him as a solo act?

I remember in 2015 when Nitro cut a promo and said his partner was dead.
I wonder if animal liked that.

One of his last major appearances was at WM22 in the Raw/SD battle royal.
Animal's Road Warrior gimmick was that he had disowned his LOD/Road Warriors image and was his own man now.
.......WM22 was in Chicago.
The CHICAGO crowd was (of course) chanting for him as the match was coming to an end.
He was eliminated next to last.
And I'm pretty sure it was by accident. Viscera and Snitsky were the last ones left - both RAW guys - and....Viscera won. Weird/dumb booking for the end of a Raw vs. Smackdown battle royal unless you have one of those guys switch brands (which would happen when Big Show jumped to ECW a few months later in a battle royal).
He was let go a month or two, after trying to pitch ideas to creative and being shot down left & right.
