I'm gettin a little tired of The Room. I've laughed at it and owned it forever. Read and enjoyed Disaster Artist and want to see the film version. Glad Franco is getting recognition, and good for Wiseau for being a good sport and for milking as much fame and money out of this thing as he can. That said, the movie is still utter garbage. It's hilarious in its incompetence, but it's still incompetent. I dunno, feels like they're kind of giving out a version of a participation ribbon regardless of quality etc because it became a cult thing. I mean there are a thousand shitty movies made each year that don't get acclaim for their shittiness. I don't know, maybe I'm just Room-ed out. Cheepcheepcheep.

A review I watched put it perfectly recently. Watching The Room is like watching a Lifetime movie made by an alien trying to pose as a human. The crappyness isn't so much the draw, it's the insane level of awkwardness.

No, The Room is a bad movie, in general.

I don't love this.
Like, chuckle all you want but Tommy Wiseau is a bad dude. He treated his cast like garbage and he wields crappy copyright enforcement like a sword. REALLY dislike the dude and I don't love how everyone is cool with him because he makes them laugh.

After reading The Disaster Artist and finding out how badly eh treated everyone, it just made me dislike the man. Although I do love the fact that he doesn't realize that we are laughing at him and not with him.

I don’t know anything about the copyright stuff. But that’s a good point about how he treated his cast and crew. But, admittedly, there’s still a part of me that can’t help but laugh at the absurdity of all this.

One very specific example was getting the Nostalgia Critic review of The Room from 2010 taken down for a brief period. Needless to say Doug Walker took it about as well you'd think and retaliated by posting a sketch where he imitated Tommy Wiseau and his legal rep. Yeah he did those back then too.

Tommy said in a recent interview that was he was going to say if he hadn't been mic blocked, was "If a lot of people love each other, the world would be a better place to live." That of course being a line from The Room.
