So here's something I thought might be interesting to do...we talk about the stagnation in WWE at times and how things don't change. Well, out of curiosity, I decided to look back at the 2008 Royal Rumble Match participants, and see how they are doing now. In order of entry:
1)Undertaker: pretty much retired (we'll know for sure after Raw 25 what's going on with him)
2)Shawn Michaels: Retired
3)Santino Marella: Retired due to injuries, runs own dojo.
4)The Great Khali: Has own promotion in India, made a one-time appearance last year.
5)Hardcore Holly: Wrestling on the indy circuit to this day.
6)John Morrison: Now Johnny Mundo on Lucha Underground
7)Tommy Dreamer: Mostly dealing with House of Hardcore events, has made periodic WWE Network appareances
8)Batista: Movie star
9)Hornswoggle: Brief appearance in Impact last year.
10)Chuck Palumbo: Host of "Lords of the Car Hoards" on Discovery Channel
11)Jamie Noble: Backstage agent for WWE
12)CM Punk: Trying to have another UFC fight (at least that's last I heard)
13)Cody Rhodes: Working various companies around the world
14)Umaga: Deceased
15)Snitsky: Currently a landlord in Britain
16)The Miz: Current member of WWE on Raw
17)Shelton Benjamin: Current member of WWE on Smackdown
18)"Superfly" Jimmy Snuka: Deceased
19)"Rowdy" Roddy Piper: Deceased
20)Kane: Current member of WWE on Raw
21)Carlito: Returned to WWC as well as other independent promotions
22)Mick Foley: Pretty much a legend role for the company
23)Mr. Kennedy: Mostly his wrestling school in Minnesota
24)Big Daddy V: Deceased
25)Mark Henry: Transitioned to backstage role last I heard
26)Chavo Guerrero: Producer for Lucha Underground
27)Finlay: Agent/Producer for WWE
28)Elijah Burke: Was just released from Impact
29)Triple H: Semi-retired, mostly handles NXT
30)John Cena: Part Time "Free Agent"
So yeah...a lot of changes in 10 years. Any that aren't dead or still in WWE you'd like to see make a Rumble return 10 years later?
