I have just been watching Smackdowns from 2003 to see heel Cena and more of Eddies work and man this period of time was lit. I started watching the next year but you had some great stuff in this period. Heel Cena, biker Taker, Eddie (although the heel turn in the middle of 03 was kind of dumb), Brock vs Kurt fued and the double turn

I only had Sky One as a kid so all I saw was Smackdown around this point and it was fantastic.

Yeah 2003 was a good year for Smackdown and refreshing considering Raw was mainly a chore at the time (apart from Kane really).
They had such a great talent pool. Angle, Benoit, Los Guerreros, Team Angle, Lesnar, Rey, Kidman, Matt Hardy, Tajiri, Rhyno, heel Cena making an impact. Even the McMahon family stuff fit in ok, and how can we forget Mr America?
Vengeance 2003 has to be up there as maybe the best single brand PPV WWE has done.

If we can never mention biker taker again I'd be happy. Apart from that though 2003 was just such a refreshing change to the reign of terror over on the red show.

This was the year that had Vince vs Stephanie as a PPV match. They expected people to pay to watch that.

Aside from the over the top sexuality of the divas, particularly Torrie, being annoying, it was an amazing time.
The United States title division was stellar!

I still wonder how Edge would have done if he wasn’t injured for pretty much the entire year.

This was when Kanyon was working dark matches before SmackDown as Mortis. They even had an article in WWE magazine promoting his return. Then nothing. I’ve always thought they could’ve done a lot with the character in 2003.

It was great because there was something for everyone: good storylines and characters for casual fans, and good in ring work for hardcore fans.
Smackdown from SummerSlam 2002-WM 20 is my favorite period of a brand extension.
Next is Raw from December 2003 to SummerSlam 04

2003 Smackdown theme! Here Comes The Pain!! I have a soft spot for "I Want it All". One of my favorite WWF/E intros.
