I was just reading a great article on how these things hardly ever work, and I think about how obvious that these things will bomb, like reforming the Rockers with Al Snow as a goofball, or the “New Midnight Express” with Bob Holly and Bart Gunn and an angle that contemporary fans didn’t care about.
Of course things did work when Stan Lane replaced Dennis Condrey, but that was a rare case.
It seems like many ideas are flawed from the start-do you think the promoters actually thought they had a good idea on their hands, and if not, why waste everyone’s time?
Were there any that you thought would work out that didn’t?

The New Fabulous Ones (Tommy Rich and Eddie Gilbert) didn't do as well as the originals, but it did lead to Gilbert's first memorable heel turn.
The Destruction Crew as the masked Minnesota Wrecking Crew II were a real "why?"

The New Age Outlaws did better than the Age Outlaws. Hell, I've never even heard who were in the original team!

And I swear WCW tried to run with a "parody" Old Age Outlaws for a few weeks in 2000, but I can't remember who with. My brain is throwing Larry Zybyszko's name out there, but I have no idea if that's right or not.

I really liked The New Foundation as I was always more of an Anvil mark in the original team and Owen was of course, awesome. I thought they would stick around for a while and be a solid addition to the WWF Tag scene. Then Neidhart got himself fired. They had their reunion in 94 but Owen had already been established as a upper card heel by then and Neidhart was more of a lackey.

The Destruction Crew as the masked Minnesota Wrecking Crew II were a real "why?" Because Verne was desperate for money without clearly jobbing out his tag team champions on WCW's TV?

I think the first "new" MX is the only solid candidate...meaning Eaton and Lane of course. Actually, Eaton and Condrey were a "New" MX in themselves, as Eaton came later into the group. (Midnight Express was originally meant to be a stable, IIRC)
The "New" Orient Express was technically an old team getting back together, plus they weren't pushed.
The New Rockers were also not pushed and just meant as a parody team (a good parody, but a parody nonetheless)
New Foundation wasn't bad, but served better as heel antagonists against Bret in 1994, after they were officially a team.
This is stretching, but Tully becoming Arn's regular tag team partner after Ole left the Horsemen?
Dick Murdoch replacing Jesse Ventura as Adrian Adonis' partner, if you consider the North-South Connection as a continuation of the East-West Connection???
Barry Darsow for Randy Colley, but they never considered this a "new" Demolition, they just treated it as if it was the same Smash.
As you can tell, the well gets totally dry beyond this.

The Destruction Crew as the masked Minnesota Wrecking Crew II were a real "why?" Because Verne was desperate for money without clearly jobbing out his tag team champions on WCW's TV? Yeah, that parts always been known, but I meant more "why Minnesota Wrecking Crew II"? The original MWC(s) had never had any sort of national exposure, hadn't even been mentioned by anyone in terms of promos or commentators bringing up their legacy, hadn't been a thing in nearly 2/3's of a decade, and didn't even have any sort of connection to the originals besides them trotting Ole out as their manager. Why did they bother to make this a sequel team instead of, I dunno, Masked Man Jackhammer and Masked Man Sledgehammer as the team Hammer Time? At least that would be a cute inside joke to their real identities (the Destruction Crew carried sledgehammers to the ring...HHH has been trying to copy Mike Enos all his life). Or even the Super Ding-Dongs or something if they wanted a new incarnation of a team. Or something completely original, even. But why Minnesota Wrecking Crew II? Was it Ole? Was his connection to them by his design or company-requested to make the team seem more legit as successors? It doesn't seem like the thing he'd do, but he was also having to deal with Jim Herd. Was it so lazily created because they knew it was for a couple of temps? That's shooting yourself in the foot when you're trying to make money and put them in a feud with the Steiners. Like I said, the whole thing is just...why?

Well I've seen there names pop up once in a while and only saw one match of them on Youtube apart of one of the first GFW shows where they went up against Gallows and Anderson before they signed with the WWE. The New Heavely Bodies because outside of SMW, the originals wasn't much of a succeeds who why be the New them? Anyway the match I saw they where green as grass and not that impressive.

Barry Windham and Bradshaw had fantastic solo careers, but this was a blackhole of forgettable suck for both of them.
