I'm surprised that Vince Russo never booked The New Ding Dongs.

I was just reading a great article on how these things hardly ever work, and I think about how obvious that these things will bomb, like reforming the Rockers with Al Snow as a goofball, or the “New Midnight Express” with Bob Holly and Bart Gunn and an angle that contemporary fans didn’t care about. Of course things did work when Stan Lane replaced Dennis Condrey, but that was a rare case. It seems like many ideas are flawed from the start-do you think the promoters actually thought they had a good idea on their hands, and if not, why waste everyone’s time? Were there any that you thought would work out that didn’t? Al Snow was not in the new Rockers, you're thinking of Leif Cassidy. On topic tho, what about the New Blackjacks? Barry Windham and Bradshaw had fantastic solo careers, but this was a blackhole of forgettable suck for both of them. I'm probably walking into a Whoosh here, but Leif WAS Al Snow.

I'm surprised that Vince Russo never booked The New Ding Dongs. I would've preferred the New Mulkeys.

I'm surprised that Vince Russo never booked The New Ding Dongs. I would've preferred the New Mulkeys. Bro, bro...listen bro... the Ding Dongs had body suits and masks, right? With bells on them. And a big ship's bell in the corner. What if - hear me out here, bro - the New Ding Dongs had skin colored masks and bodysuits, and instead of bells they were covered with sex toys? And instead of a ship's bell they a big black dildo in the corner that they'd hit people over the head with. It would be huge, bro. In more ways than one, but we'd be all over the Howard Stern Show, bro.

Because Verne was desperate for money without clearly jobbing out his tag team champions on WCW's TV? HHH has been trying to copy Mike Enos all his life Wait... what?

I thought it might have been some early WCW rivalry or maybe HHH based his look on Enos haha.

Hart Dynasty? Good enough, could have been better. Hart Foundation 2.0? It was Teddy Hart and Jack Evans, who ISN'T EVEN FROM CANADA Neither is Jim Neil Hart. True, but Neidhart married into the family, and had 'Hart' in his name already. (Same applies to Jimmy Hart. The original Foundation wasn't a family thing yet. Just 3 guys who happened to have similar last names.) Jack Evans had literally no discernible connection to the Harts other than being Teddy's tag partner. He doesn't even have 'Hart' in his name!

Danny Davis was an official member of the Hart Foundation too.

I'm surprised that Vince Russo never booked The New Ding Dongs. This would've required Vince Russo to acknowledge that WCW existed before 1996. This was one of the many reasons he was a poor fit for the company, he felt everything that happened in the NWA/JCP/WCW before the nWo formed was worthless. Now if someone in WCW had pitched to him "The New Beverly Brothers" I'm sure he would've been all over that.

Instead of drawing on the history of WCW to book creatively, pre nWo WCW was not even an afterthought under his regime.

Same could be said about Brian Pillman, though.
