I recently watched the Netflix series “The toys that made us” and got out my GI Joes DVD’s and rewatched them. I used to love coming home after school and watching it. It got me thinking about who I really liked, and who were some duds. Always liked Snake-eyes, but didn’t like how they’d always have Storm-shadow built up as Spirits arch nemesis. Also liked flint better than duke. What are some of yours?

I was more a Flint and Lady Jaye guy than a Duke and Scarlet one, but maybe that's because they were given more of a role in the regular series. Loved Cobra Commander and Zartan on the other side of the fence. Shipwreck was also a guilty pleasure.

With all the wacky weather lately, when I read about snow in Florida my first thought was “One of Cobra Commanders plots finally worked!”

Cobra commander was great, until they made that movie, and turned him into an actual snake. I remember watching that movie, and slowly realizing that for me GI Joe was truly done. Kinda the same feeling I got from The Last Jedi.

My go to Joes were Frostbite, Snake Eyes, Clutch, Ozone, ninja Scarlett, Lt. Falcon, Stalker, Roadblock, Law, Chun Li, and Gung Ho.
They fought Road Pig, Storm Shadow, Firefly, Dr. Mindbender, Gristle, Guile, Sagat, Dhalsim, Ryu, and Ken.
The Joes were routinely led by the original GI Joe, cause we nailed away for two of him.

You had Guile as a member of Cobra?

Yep. I had the brown tank top Guile from him driving a tank, between that and the really sour look on his face, I placed him as a bad guy. He was usually a mid tier bad guy that the Joes would have to overcome in order to get higher into the furniture.

I liked Sgt. Slaughter as a GI Joe. He was one of my favorites. Never cared for the movie.

Best thing the DIC series did was bringing back CC as the boss

Did anyone catch the animated movie “GI Joe Resolute”? It kind of gave a more mature storyline to them, and make cobra commander back into a credible threat. Highly recommended.

I'm surprised they never tried to integrate Captain America into the line, given that Marvel published the GI Joe comics for over a decade.

Speaking of GI Joe, has anyone read Buzz Dixon (one of the original writers for GI Joe)'s book "The Most Dangerous Man in the World"? It creates an alternate timeline where there is no Serpentor or Cobra-La, and shows the real origin of Cobra. I've gotten through half of it and it's really well-written.

Also, what were your fav playsets/vehicles from the line? Of course, there's the classics like the terrordrome and the USS Flagg and the Skystrikers, but I also really liked the Mobile Command Center.

Did anyone know anyone that had the USS Flag I knew 2 other kids that got it. One was from a really rich family,so wasn't surprised he got one.The other kid was from a middle class family and had 3 brothers. So while he got it he had to share it with his brothers. I got one.Only cause some toy store in Mobile was going out of business and it was 50% off. I can't think of the name right now,But I really loved the Joe cartoon that was on the Hub. It only got one season. But outside of one episode depicting Biloxi like it was this swampy backwoods town,it was a great show. For me it was the best of all the Hub Original cartoons.

As much as I would want the Flag now like with Fort Max of the G1 Transformers I'm sure as a kid I would have loved it but like with FM it would just take a lot of space up It did. Mine stayed in the back of the living room cause there was really no room for it in my living room. Years later,95 IIRC,a buddy in 8 months found 3 Flaggs at various thrift stores. Between the three he managed to build a complete one. One of the others he used as a coffee table in his living room.
