What do you see him going onto do? We at least know he probably would’ve guest hosted Raw at some point His contract wasn’t renewed on Family Feud in 1994 after the original one I believe ran out or was terminated early. This was because ratings were plummeting for the show that year, but I think that was more of people being sick of the show in general. Richard Dawson was brought back and the show got canceled after him only being around for 1994-1995. It was later revived with Louie Anderson as host in 1999, but I thought Combs was great at his job. If he lived and never returned to the Family Feud franchise I could easily see him hosting other game shows or similar type work.

I honestly don't know.
But then we likely never got the best host in the modern age, John C. Hurley.

I honestly don't know. But then we likely never got the best host in the modern age, John C. Hurley. Maybe the sixth best host I'd take anybody over Steve Harvey. Before he came along, it was a highbrow game show where you laughed at absurd answers (such as the Australian version where the guy said "turkey" four times. Plus, it was one of my favorite SNL skits where the Coneheads were on & I always quip about biting a trapeze). Now its that meme every night.

Tough to say. Supposedly he killed himself because of serious money troubles, so does he ever get out of that? That would be the first question.

Before he dies, he hosted a game show on Fox Family, so he'd probably be doing something like that.

I wish he was. He would return to WWE during he attitude era..just imagine if he was free to be ruthless?
The zingers and potshots. Heck. He could be a commentator and I would be happy.

I loathe family fued now. Categories made just for someone to say sexual answers and for Harvey to overreact and act shocked.

Not sure what he'd be doing now, as by the late 90s, game shows were hiring ex-sitcom stars as hosts.

Not sure what he'd be doing now, as by the late 90s, game shows were hiring ex-sitcom stars as hosts. True. Although I think being the host of such a big show for about 7 years would have given him at least enough star power to get lesser gigs. Like he had hosting the aforementioned Family Challenge shortly before his death. By the time the 2000s/2010s rolled around I could see him being a part of those retro shows and I Love the 1980s/1990s shows and possibly embraced by some meme creators. Meme makers love them some 1980s/1990s nostalgia and Feud was a fixture in both decades. He was very whitty and quick thinking, but as it is now his episodes can be a little bit of a bummer to watch as you always have his suicide in the back of your mind. For some reason I also think it would be cool to see him in a bit part in a Quentin Tarantino movie. Either as a game show host or something similar like a shifty used car salesman.

Yes, maybe he'd do some of the GSN originals, though those leaned towards getting the sitcom stars too. Which reminds me...I need to find bumpers from a GSN Family Feud marathon in the real early years, where Ray and Richard were apparently featured together.

Honestly, I feel like if he was still with us, he would still probably have been done with Feud around the same time. The mid-90s were kind of a nadir for game shows until Millionaire came around in '99, and even though in practice Feud was only gone for 3-4 years or so, I think it still would've happened, especially with as much format-shaking-up as was going on with Feud in the early 90s. It does make it a bit more evident though just how big of outliers Jeopardy, Wheel, and Price are in terms of uninterrupted longevity with minimal format changes.

Ray's time would have been after Family Feud in 1995 but Vince already had someone in Todd Pettengill to fill that void and he'd be doing Family Challenge. Following the timeline of Ray if he didn't commit suicide, he would have continued to do Family Challenge until it's cancellation in 1997 when Fox bought The Family Channel and screwed over all the game shows royally, especially Shopping Spree and Shop Til You Drop. So, we are at September of 1997 and WWE is starting to go into the Attitude Era. Would Ray's schtick work there? Probably not. I could see him doing a lot of stuff for Game Show Network.
