Georgia Championship Wrestling and World Championship Wrestling?
I know that Georgia was a precursor and it was under the Crockett banner, but I’m watching an episode from 1982 and it’s called “World Championship Wrestling” I didn’t think the name changed came until after McMahon bought out the time slot briefly.
So what’s what and what are the years?

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georgia_Championship_WrestlingFrom the Article: In 1982, Georgia Championship Wrestling changed its main programming name to World Championship Wrestling. GCW ran shows in Ohio & Michigan; wrestling returned to Dayton, Ohio in January 1983 after a lay-off of no wrestling in Dayton for five years. This was the around the same time Ole Anderson had Bill Dundee run towns in the territory with the Memphis talent when the top Georgia talent were on tours of Ohio and Michigan. The whole thing bombed massively. Here's Jim Cornette's take on it.

GCW started using the WCW name in 1982. During WWE's time in control, the TV show went back to the Georgia name. When Crockett over in April 1985, the WCW name for the program returned.
Prior to WWE buying it in July 1984, GCW/WCW was owned by Ole Anderson, the Briscos, and a few others. They worked with Crockett's Mid-Atlantic promotion, but Crockett promoted shows in Georgia didn't start until '85.

The promotion was Georgia Championship Wrestling and the TV show was called World Championship Wrestling, after Ole was convinced by Turner execs to change it to make it more appealing on their channel. In those days, "World Championship Wrestling" weren't any different from "Wrestling Challenge" or "Primetime Wrestling" and wouldn't become a company's name until the Turner buyout.
