I know he was well past his athletic prime in the Attitude Era, but pairing him with the Truth Commision (who were supposed to be from South Africa) seems like it would have been a fit. Plus, it would’ve been the time when WWE tried to be most edgy and the DeBeers character was that.

No one would have cared, the Truth Commission were ice cold and no one would have gave a crap about DeBeers either.

"Pro Apartheid South African Militants" was both well above the scope of the average Attitude Era fan as well as too dumb for even WWF to execute because who wants to see something with a non American perspective (again, you have to think about the average Attitude Era fan where they spent 1997 thinking Canada was a shithole) & is full of crap workers?

DeBeers/Ed Wizowski was a good worker, but Truth Commission bombed for a reason.

DeBeers/Ed Wizowski was a good worker, but Truth Commission bombed for a reason. Yeah he was a good worker, but as has been mentioned the gimmick was pretty terrible and not one designed for an audience as broad as the WWF’s fan base. Still, by the time the AWA closed Wizowski was way too associated with the gimmick to get away with being repackaged. Unless you slapped a mask on him or something.

Essentially what The Truth Commission was in 1997 but more racist.

I honestly could see him as a member of Sgt Slaughter's pro-Saddam group.

Col. DeSodas would have been better, since sodas rule!! *high five* He could be Col. DeVodka and teamed up with Nikolai for extra political incorrectness. Of course then they’d have to make him Comrade DeVodka.
