Lets say the mid 90's had been a period that resembled the Attitude Era in terms of tone but it bombed and then WWE went to a more cartoony style the drew. Do you think instead of the "shades of grey" speech Vince gave to kick off the AE he would have given a "You didn't like this reality stuff so here' some zaniness for you" speech?

Regardless of what Vince would have ended up saying, he would have escaped from a mysterious giant egg first.

I know this sounds kinda jokey but I'm being serious. Maybe it's my take but it seems like whenever something goes into a "more adult" direction there is a tendency to talk about "respect the audience" but when it gets less serious you don't see the same kind of need to justify it or embrace the change.
