I LOVED Demolition growing up. I thought they were amazing. Having recently watched a few of their promos and matches, it seemed like it was Smash and his dad Ax. Even though Bill Eadie was 40 during the start of the Demolition run, he comes off as a fatherly figure š.
From the way he looked, to the way he talked, to the way he moved... Almost everything about him just comes off as old. I didnāt notice it as a kid though, so thereās that, but still.

Crazy to think that I will be 40 this year and Eadie at this point in his career seemed 20 years older than what I am now

Seriously, people looked āolderā in the past for sone reason. I see pictures of my dad at 40, and Iām 40 now. While I am basically his clone in nearly every way, he looked quite a bit older in those pictures than I do now. I donāt know what it is, but I bet Iām not the only one who thinks this.

One of my all time favorite tag teams, even in the shitty "Ax can't work anymore, so here's Crush" iteration.

Demolition was great. I didnāt mind that Ax looked older. I liked it actually. There were more men that looked like grown men back then. You donāt see too many guys that look like a Don Muraco or a Greg Valentine anymore. Itās cool to see a grizzled veteran get in there and kick some ass. It added to the believability of it all.

Their ring gear was only missing the ball gags on Saturday morning television amidst the cartoons.

Ax does seem like the more "old school wrasslin'" type, so I'd like to know what his initial thoughts were when the gimmick was presented to him. He never looked comfortable to me.

It's not just you. Wrestling it's very noticeable, NASCAR it's also very noticeable even up til around the mid 90s. You look at Bobby Allison in 1977 at age 40 and then Jimmie Johnson in 2016 at age 40 and it's almost scary the difference. I dunno how much is health versus lifestyle versus hard living or what have you, but it is extremely noticeable in a lot of places.

One of the best tag teams ever, and way more interesting than the Road Warriors if I do say so myself.
Rick Derringer deserves some type of award for that brilliant entrance theme (although I may be the only one who also likes their 1991 theme, which makes me feel like I'm watching Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood).
