On Jerry Lawler's podcast, belt maker Dave Millican reveals who came up with the Penny Tag Team Belt and it was pretty much Stephanie idea. Kind of funny how years later they would end up turning them silver anyways. Here a pic of the original version had two name plate and was on brown leather. WWE didn't like these and Dave Millican had to remake them. The original one are now in the hand of a private collecter atm.

I disliked them at first though they eventually grew on me. They look way better in silver though.

Damn, I really like the one with the name plates. Then again I also didn't mind the copper color either since it was unique. I miss when titles had some color to them and weren't just gold and gems.

Worst belts ever. Besides the fact I hate the colour, the fact they still script the commentators to call it "tag team gold" sickens me!
Why the hell would she want them copper anyway?!

I think they look better now than when they were first introduced, but I’m digging that set with the two nameplates.

I still don't mind the idea of other metals for the belts. I could see the reasoning behind having the World titles be gold, Inter/US in silver, and tag in bronze. But the combination of copper and the shape did lead to the penny nickname.
Much better with the dual nameplates, though. Pity they took that out.

Copper belts in general might work, but I don't get why they would just introduce tag belts like that and leave everything else as it was. That just made those belts look like they were from a completely different company. I wonder what they would've looked like if they were gold from the start.

The smackdown tag belts work well with that design imo.

Like the design, hate the colours. Silver is a slight improvement on copper, but still doesn't look anywhere near as good as gold would.

i still hate these belts. I know WWE wants the belts to look good as a toy to sell to kids, but these things look like actual toys.
The SD and Raw versions are still just as fugly.

Eh, they're alright, I guess. I've never seen a set of tag titles I've truly liked, though.

The copper and brown with the dual plates looks pretty nice, actually. Gives it a warmer glow. Of course WWE hated it, it doesn't look like an overly gaudy prop.
