*Waits for the Simpson's joke with Pogs to get out of the way before continuing.
Talking with a friend of mine last night somehow led us to discussing Alf.
Got me thinking...save for that weird talk show thing in the early 2000s, we haven't seen anything with him, and the character is relegated to that Simpson's joke for the most part.
Is there any feasible way that Alf could be revived for modern times, and if so...should he? I mean, the character had not only the live action series, but two animated shows and a 50 issue comic in his heyday.

I actually liked the animated Saturday morning show.

The guy who created him (and voiced him) still does the character from time to time - he was doing some new material for MeTV when they started airing ALF a year or so back.
Part of it could be "no one else wants to make an ALF revival" or could also be "he, probably having all the rights, doesn't want to make an ALF revival."
Deserve? Sure, why not. But since Muppet revivals don't seem to stick well, I can imagine people (including his creator) maybe being discouraged with one for ALF...

A cartoon might work. I think the concept though is way too goofy for today for a live action one to work.

I doubt a live action show happens again. The cast hated working on ALF. Plus the creator and owner of Alf is rumored to be really hard to work with.

I'll stick to my dvd's One of my favorite episodes, when they got a Nielsen box. Alf: remember that time when you told me to rig the ratings? Willie: I NEVER TOLD YOU TO RIG THE RATINGS!! Alf:.....wrll, you didn't tell me *not* to.....

No Alf does not deserve a revival. Has our entertainment industry gotten so bad they can't think of anything original so they just reboot old shows like MacGyver, Full House, Boy Meets World and Family Matters.

If they do ever bring back Alf, I could see them doing one of those Mockumentary type sitcoms like Modern Family or The Office. Like a study of Alf or something.

Honestly, it was terrible even back then. LOVED it as a child, tried watchin as a grown man and thought: "f***, how did this even make it past a pilot?"

I think once we solve poverty, homelessness and world conflict we should focus on an Alf comeback

I doubt a live action show happens again. The cast hated working on ALF. Plus the creator and owner of Alf is rumored to be really hard to work with. yeah part of the reason it wasn't brought back was because the live action actors pretty much hated working on the show and having to dodge the tunnels and stuff they had to build for Alf to walk. I could potentially see another cartoon with live action bits of the puppet maybe.

True Hollywood Story, but anyways the entire cast said they would not come back for another season. The stress of working on that set was so bad it caused the lady playing the daughter to develop an eating disorder. And seems like she pretty much quit acting after ALF. While the show was fun,and holds up decently, the Marvel/Star Comic was even better. Loved the Evolutionary War crossover they had in one of the Alf Annuals.

Revival? "Revival" implies that there has been a point where ALF wasn't at the forefront of pop culture relevancy, something I refuse to accept.

How about we compromise, we get a reboot of 3rd Rock from the Sun where Alf is their pet?
