Watching early 1998 and it's easy to tell the difference between tapes and live with their every other a week system before Smackdown came along. So many obvious studio voice overs and pre taped segements in a row. Anyone else notice this?

The Dec. 7, 1998 show sticks out because you can see JR at ringside during some matches, but Michael Cole had to do the studio commentary because JR got sick with Bell's Palsy in the 6 days between taping and airing.
For some reason, the commentary on taped Raws was done live as the show was airing. It seems like they could have saved a lot of effort by just doing the voiceovers on Friday or something.

They did it on the Mondays so they could make hamfisted references to whatever was in the news that day so it appeared to be live

I just watched the first Raw after the 1995 Summerslam. At the end they had a preview of the next week but actually showed footage of the taped matches. It was 123 Kid vs Razor Ramon and Men on a Mission vs Yoko and Owen for the tag belts. I never knew that they acknowledged the shows were taped that early one.
