Thought I’d have a Twilight Zone thread that wasn’t for the marathon haha My favorite is The Howling Man. Some of the season 4 ones are tough to get through. The Thirty-Fathom Grave is one that stands out in particular.

My favorite episodes are The Hunt, The Dummy, Night Call, The After Hours and Will the Real Martian Please Stand Up? Would have to think awhile to name a least favorite.

Betwitching' Pool may not be the worst, but given it was the series finale, its a very low note to go out on.

I hate Eye of the Beholder. It’s so obvious what’s happening. Couldn’t wait for the reveal so I could be done with it.

Will the Real Martian Please Stand Up? is a great one! I think that was the one I showed my girlfriend to get her into the series.

There was one about a guy who crashed his spaceship on an alien planet. He couldn't get help since Earth ended up getting destroyed by some ongoing war happening at the same time. So he meets an alien woman, and they went off into the jungle after their names were revealed to be Adam and Eve. What dogshit.

I liked the one where the rocket crashed. The crew wakes up, assumes they’re on some asteroid. Proceed to kill each other. Find out they’re on Earth, like a couple miles from the launchpad. I just found it hilarious how they can’t recognize Earth despite every obvious clue. They make such a huge logical leap they are somewhere alien it’s hilarious.

Best - The Invaders, A Game of Pool, Long Distance Call, and Will the Real Martian Please Stand Up.
Worst - Elegy, The Mighty Casey, and The Bewitchin' Pool.

I've only seen the first two seasons so far as I'm currently in the middle of binging it on Netflix, but of the episodes I've seen, my top favorites are probably: 1. A Nice Place to Visit 2. The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street 3. 22 4. The Rip Van Winkle Caper 5. The Obsolete Man 6. Nick of Time 7. Will the Real Martian Please Stand Up? 8. The Fever 9. The Hitchhiker 10. Judgement Night So far I've enjoyed the series, although the first four or five episodes weren't that memorable to me. For those that have seen it already, does the rest of the series tend to get better, worse, or stay about the same in seasons 3-5?

"The Bewitchin' Pool" and "The Masks" are probably my least favorite.
Cavender Is Coming I go back and forth on...
I'm not sure what I'd say is my favorite.

My favorite will always be The Monsters On Due On Maple Street. Sadly, it turned out to be a timeless story.
Dunno about a least favorite. I think it's too easy to say Cavender Is Coming, because that's generally not a well-liked episode, and it's got Carol Burnett in it, so, unsure.

Time Enough At Last was amazingly simple and yet so haunting. That one has to take it for me.

It's not the worst but "It's a Good Life" is the most overrated. It's pretty much all build and then no payoff.

I always thought the fitting ironic punishment for Anthony would have been him wishing every adult into the cornfield. But now facing utter loneliness he himself is forced to think good thoughts and convince himself he did a good thing.

Imo they either needed to make Anthony a total sociopath or make it clear that at 6 he doesn't comprehend death and thus doesn't get what happens to those he send "to the cornfield" instead the story just kinda splits the difference.

For those that have seen it already, does the rest of the series tend to get better, worse, or stay about the same in seasons 3-5? Season 2 is probably my favorite, but there are some top notch episodes all the way to the end of the series. It never really drops off in quality. Season 3 is pretty similar to season 2 though it doesn’t have any episodes shot on video, which is a plus. Season 4 goes to an hour in length, has less episodes than the other seasons, and I believe is no longer on Netflix. The poorer episodes in that season really stand out as like I said they last twice as long. There are about 4 or 5 great ones, 4 or 5 poor ones, and the rest are pretty good to fair. Season 5 had some new writers and in general is more mean spirited in the way. I remember one of the veteran writers or someone once said these new writers didn’t really get the show as well as earlier writers. So you have things like good people getting punished in the end for not much reason. Whereas before characters that suffered really bad fates had some kind of flaw that led to it and presented a moral. Also, there are at least one or two rehashes of previous episodes ( same basic plot with some variables changed). Still, a great season though.

I'm gonna go outside the box and picking "Walking Distance" as my favorite episode. The theme of looking back at younger years from middle aged eyes is the same theme Serling used in the the Night Gallery episode "They're Tearing Down Tim Reilly's Bar" which he considered along with "Requiem for a Heavyweight" the best thing he ever wrote. "Walking Distance" is like an early draft of the later script. But it has a similar feel.

To me, the ultimate episode is still the one with the dude that finally has all the time in the world to read and he breaks his glasses

I was hoping to watch the whole series through since I haven’t watched all the episodes back to back (though I’ve probably seen them all). However for some uncanny reason it starts at season 2 I said f*** it and just started with season 3. I like the pacing of those half hour episodes better anyway, but I really miss some of the gems in season 1. I think I still have season 1 in storage somewhere. I just have to find it sometime.
