As reported by Loudwire and numerous other sites as well as the band itself, Slayer has decided to hang it up after well over three decades of being one of the greatest thrash metal bands of all time. They'll be doing one final world tour (dates to be announced) and then it's over.
I won't lie, they may have fallen off badly the last couple of albums and they're not the same without Jeff, but a metal tear will be shed by me when it's all done.

Hope we get a Minneapolis date. One of my last few never-seen bands.

Hope we get a Minneapolis date. One of my last few never-seen bands. I'm hoping they come somewhere closer to me than Milwaukee. I doubt it'll happen, sadly. Most of the good stuff goes there when they come to Wisconsin.

I'm totally Meh on this.
I love everything they did from 84 to 94 but they haven't released a decent album in more than 20 years and the last time I saw them live they weren't very good.

This would suck if it were really the case, but I doubt it.
I'm sure they mean it when they say it, but in 5 or 10 years they'll do a reunion tour and possibly new album like every other band.

I feel sorry for the "legit" ones that actually have a true Final Tour... but announced Final Tours feel like a bigger scam than retirement speeches in Professional Wrestling

I love Slayer's first five albums to death, but this is probably long overdue. Fun fact: my grandma once borrowed my Slayer shirt and wore it to bingo. What a goof she was.

Hopefully I don't go see them on this tour and find out they're putting out a new record a few years later.
I'm looking at you, Ministry

God I hate “final tours”. It’s a cheap ploy to sell tickets when the band will almost certainly be back within 5-10 years. I don’t understand the need to announce retirement from a creative endeavor anyways. Something wrong with just “after this tour we have no plans to write or play live on the horizon”?

I'm going. Not a huge Slayer fan, but I enjoyed them live. Also Testament kicks ass!

Oh for f***'s sake. They're going AROUND Wisconsin. And seeing the lineup they have with them, that hurts even more.
