And not better than ever...
During Daniel Bryan's address of the state of 205 Live, he said that Enzo Amore "abdicated" the Crusierweight championship.
Hearing this brought back painful memories of a few years back when WWE was seemingly obsessed with using this word "abdicate".
Apparently, Vince or somebody has a newfound love of the word...
Why can't you just say he handed it over or something? Why use such a clunky and unncommon word, that no actual person ever says in their life?

They want some words, phrases, and styles of communication to be only associated with the WWE Universe.... And parasites that cause your brain to rot.

I don't know why they even said what they said. Would have been easier to just say due to personal legal issues, Enzo Amore is no longer with WWE and as a result the title has been vacated.

I mean, abdication isn't a totally unused word. It's just usually associated with royalty, and maybe it could be argued WWE want to associate their champions with that level of status?

I don't remember them being being big on abdicate, but I do recall when everything was in abeyance.

Abdication is not so uncommon as it is specific. It's the term used for when a monarch gives up their throne in favor of someone else for an assortment of reasons.
Though equating a WWE championship holder to royalty is a bit odd.

I still feel like they've used abdicate before. Maybe I just thought they overused it, when it was actually abeyance that was overused. Either way...point stands.

Well, the Cruiserweight Title strap is purple, which until they found a cheaper way to make it was a color associated with nobility and royalty...plus in the first reign it was taken from a King, so...

I read the thread title and first sentence, and was absolutely positive I was about to read newz about Bischoff being 205 Live's GM.

That would be a serious breach of kayfabe, plus do you really think WWE would want to mention legal issues for real stuff on their programming? Yikes!

Not like they've never broken kayfabe before on air and they don't have to specify the legal issues. Literally they'd just have to say "legal issues" and that's it. Anyone who googles Enzo now is going to see the story anyway so they might as well be somewhat honest. Or even just drop the law and say Enzo isn't with the company anymore and the belt is now vacant.

Or even just drop the law and say Enzo isn't with the company anymore and the belt is now vacant. ........that's pretty much exactly what they said. Enzo has abdicated the belt, and will no longer be competing for/quit 205 Live (can't remember the exact verbiage). It was legit like 1 sentence that spanned like 5 seconds EDIT: And like as soon as Bryan said that, he immediately went into a spiel about how much he enjoys 205 Live and the new commissioner and Enzo wasn't mentioned again from what I remember

It was as good a choice of words as any WWE could have come up with to explain that Enzo was gone, without getting into legally ticklish specifics. It was also a good choice to have Daniel make the announcement in a studio setup rather than in the arena. The response by WWE has been spot-on since the story broke, I think.
