After a concert years ago, my buddy and I went to a 24 hour restaurant. We were the only patrons there. Waitress never gave us napkins or silverware or refills on our drinks. No tip.

No. There’s a local cafe where the food was so bad I refused to eat it. Total bill with coffee was like 15 bucks, still tipped the waitress 15% because it isn’t her fault the chef was shit.

Back when Hooters would show the WWE PPV’s, my friends and I would go up every month. We usually rolled 6-7 deep, and we all arrived hungry so the bill was always pretty decent.
One month however, our waitress decided to spend her night flirting (or working?) these 2 meatheads all night as they pounded down beers rather then check on us at all.
I RARELY ever tip anything less then 15% but that night none of us felt like she deserved a penny.

I refused to leave a tip when I had to call the restaurant while I was IN said restaurant to send a waitress to my table to collect my money for what was a good meal.

Never left less than 15% for a meal, but once left a nickel tip at a bar for lousy service. On a slow night, I was seated at the bar and she ignored me while she talked with the guys on my left, then ignored me while she talked to the guys on my right. The guys even asked her what I did wrong, and she said "...oh" and then got me a drink.

Yes. My friend and I were at the movie theater restaurant, we wait about 10 minutes to be seated even though we were the only ones there. The waitress comes over with an attitude and takes our order and then proceeded to flirt with the bartender for 20 minutes my friend and I are sitting there waiting and waiting my drink runs out and no food still. Finally she comes over with the food and finally despite me asking for a refill earlier gives me a refill. So we agree not to tip because of how awful the service was after we pay we go to the game room and start playing and the waitress storms over and starts yelling at us

Never 0 because I've personally as the bill payer never had that bad a service. This Sunday I was picking up a growler at a brewery and had a beer there but the guy didn't process my discount card that I showed him and I just gave him 1 dollar tip instead of the usual 2 I would have to almost make up the difference.

Only once. Kinda... I left a tip but made sure only the cook got it. I handed a 20% tip directly to the cook at a small diner to bypass the bitch waitress.
I was with a contractor and his two foremen (both old Cuban refugees). The waitress's opening line was "Ya'll have to order in English cause I don't know Mexican"

The yank thing of tipping at a bar is that thing that resoundingly establishes the cultural differences between NA and EU/AU/NZ English speakers. If I left a tip at a bar in Ireland, UK or AU/NZ 9/10 the barman'll bark that I've forgotten my change.

No, I just tip less, but I’ve never had like wretched, wretched service before.
I normally tip 20%, but if it’s not up to snuff, then I’ll just tip 15%. It’s not a major difference, I know, but it’s my very minor protest.

Usually I'll just tell them to keep the change, so If our meal is £18.50 the waiter gets £1.50. It's pretty much only the US where "we expect customers to pay employees, not us" culture actually exists.

It's pretty much only the US where "we expect customers to pay employees, not us" culture actually exists. I remember going to a bar in England (it was a hole-in-the-wall student pub in Leicester) for the first time and I left a tip when I ordered a drink and the bartender thought I was trying to flash around my wealth and be a dick. I didn’t realize that the way we tipped in North America wasn’t common practice elsewhere.

I work in the industry and I have but only once. When I never see you after delivering our drinks for an hour...especially when I want to buy another round...yeah I’m probably not leaving anything. I’m a pretty patient guy when it comes to my service too since I’ve been doing it for so long so you realllly have to mess up.

I've never had a bad service luckily so it's never come to that. I don't tip on takeout though.

When I was like 13 my friend and I went to Friendly's or some bullshit, we felt like big time adults going to a restaurant alone without parents. I had 20 dollars and the bill came out to 19.75 and I left the quarter as the tip. We were waiting outside for my mom to pick us up when the waitress comes out and yells "I DONT NEED A 25 CENT TIP TO BE INSULTED!" and throws the quarter at me

absolutely not. you would have to be a real shitbird for me to do that and I guess I've never been that unlucky. my grandfather always said "If you can afford to go oout for dinner you can afford to leave a tip" and those are words I live by.

As a Brit we don't have to and more often than not we get multiple waiters/waitresses per table.
If I get a single waiter/waitress and they're good (Or cute when it comes to waitress) I'll leave a tip around £2
