I gave this a chance tonight based on Michael Shannon being second bill. And Paramount Network rebranding inteigued me. It's a decent show so far, only an episode in and it clearly has budgetary tv issues but over all the first episode was pretty good.
Anyone else watch it?

It was fine but I found my attention waning in the second half-hour. I don't know how much of a love triangle we're going to get between Koresh, the girl, and the guy with the mustache, but let's hope the first episode was the peak of it because those were the scenes I found myself tuning out the most.
Perhaps once we get the episodes dedicated solely to Waco and Mount Carmel, maybe the series will pick up. With only six hour-long episodes, they don't exactly have a lot of fat to play around with.

Saw about 25 minutes of the first episode tonight. Good cast and looks to be decent.

My only knowledge of it is an interview with Michael Shannon where he admitted he yelled at one of the Coen Brothers on a plane because they assumed he'd be the cult leader.
"Why does everybody always ask me if I’m playing Koresh?!”

"Why does everybody always ask me if I’m playing Koresh?!” Despite his very intense presence He's a comical and generally funny dude. I like the cast a lot it's what drew me in. I don't actually remember much about Waco, so if anything it has peaked interest in doing research.

IIRC I was fresh outta high school and in Army BCT when Waco happened. Was after I heard Bill Hicks talking about it that I started wanting to learn more about Waco and Ruby Ridge.
Looks like the mini series will go against what most of the news was saying when it was happening.

If anyone is interested in a very broad but grim overview of Waco (and tangentially Ruby Ridge), American Experience talked about both at length on their episode on Oklahoma City. Ruby Ridge got its own episode because of the amount of material. But I digress.
Amazingly, this is the second Waco series. I remember a TV movie made staring Tim Daly as Koresh back in the day. Dad from the Wonder Years was an ATF agent.
