I've been a fan of your Civilization games ever since I first got to play Civilization II. I think they have only improved with each instalment and keep happily playing them as each game feels like an adventure and am anxiously waiting forward to what you have in store for us with the next expansions and games. However, it does seem that there is something missing from the newer games, one detail that prevents them from achieving perfection. This is why, I implore you, no matter what else you do with your future games, please, for the love of all that is good in the world...
... BRING THESE GUYS BACK!!

Well how about a true sequel to Alpha Centauri because f*** this spiritual successor bullshit with Civilization: Beyond Earth.

To me, Civ2 was perfection. It hit that tiny magic spot between fun/tedious, between micromanagement hell/game plays it's self easy. You could do everything right and lose often. You could do everything wrong and win sometimes. it felt very "real" in that fashion. It was simple to play, hard to master.
No Civ game has felt right since then. Most of them get into "It's so real it's unrealistic" territory. I really don't know how else to explain it. Like... some random tiny empire demands a ton of gold for like a handful of beads, you deny their request and they declare way with Nukes. While at the same time hyping that their game as "super realistic diplomacy!"

My war councilor always glitched out after speaking. He'd be wearing a toga and then suddenly at the end he looked like General Schwarzkopf.

You say that like it's a bad thing ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) I always liked successfully defending a city from bombers by using archers

My issue with later games was some little empire sabotaging my roads or breaking a cease fire, then I attack them in response, and suddenly the entire planet is attacking me. Or, I conquer half their cities, offer peace, and they keep talking about how they are going to fight until the end. And The rest of the world hates me for it.
