Can the British FANs explain the movie? It comes out next week in the States & it looks like one of the most obnoxious films of the year.
Like, how is the farmer evil here? If anything, the rabbits are the villains because they keep mutilating & sodimizing this poor shlub.

From what I’ve heard, Beatrix Potter fans are not happy with this film. I’ve never liked any of her books, they’re too twee and sickly sweet but from what I’ve seen, they’ve changed the character completely. The film isn’t actually British though.

I have not heard of it until now. I wasn’t aware there was a Peter Rabbit film coming.
I’m assuming it’s based on Beatrix Potter’s Peter Rabbit (well imdb confirmed that for me)
And I see no reviews or ratings yet. So it’s not been released anywhere.
In the 90’s there was pretty good animated series adaptated from the Potter book series if you want some more background on the characters.

In the books the farmer is just a gardener trying to keep his garden safe from rabbity incursion. I believe he killed Peter Rabbit's father and baked him into a pie.
Also... do they actually sodomize him? I only briefly saw part of a trailer. I can't imagine that'd fly for a kids movie.

Well, when you take an innocent character (well, innocent for creature standards) & start having him shove carrots up bungholes, they'd be pissed.

Unless a carrot in the buttcrack warrants that type of scream.

So whose in it..
Oh.. good cast: Margot Robbie, Daisy Ridley, Sam Neill, Rose Byrne, Domhall Gleeson.. An Aussie, Kiwi, England mixed bag there.
Wait whose the voice of Peter.. *scrolls down imdb cast list* ... ugh James Corden .. nothing against the guy. But he seems to appear in only bad animated movies.. he has Planet 51, Trolls and The Emoji Movie to his name.

The animation looks incredible; for a realistic animated version of the Beatrix Potter characters (as opposed to the cartoons) they're pretty spot on. That appears to be the sole thing the movie has going for it though; the story and acting both look like dreck. Hard pass.

When I saw the first trailer and I couldn't help but feel that right now Beatrix Potter must be turning over in her grave.

I guess because they turned the "heroes" into a bunch of typical kid-appeal-yet-manages-to-come-off-as-douches characters.
