Firstly I'm glad he lost. Taker retiring undefeated achieves nothing. I don't get the whole "It'a nice way to say thank you to him" either as it was the WWE who made him this huge star and gave him this streak in the first place.
But I'm also glad Shawn didn't end it. I liked the way each one of Taker's wins was a different opponent (yes there was Kane twice, but the Wrestlemania XIX handicap match balanced it out again) so I didn't want the second HBK match to take place at all. But Shawn winning and leaving a year later also achieves nothing apart from saving us from the yeah HHH/Taker stinkers and HHH trying to syphon heat from other people onto himself as per usual.
The only problem with Brock winning is that he should have then passed the torch on by now already but instead he wasted a year regaining his invincible status by beating Goldberg.

And they've completely wasted said boost by not truly putting anyone over Lesnar since then. That's not "wasting" it. They used the streak to make Lesnar a demi-god character. That's what it was used for and it worked. There doesn't always have to be "another rub" after that. Well roman is getting it

Many would argue a years-long part-time demi-god character whose mere existence holds up any progress made at the main event level and who holds the top belt hostage for a year isn't a great thing regardless of if they technically succeeded at making him what they wanted him to be. The lack of giving any kind of rub has done more harm than good to the whole production. I'd disagree. I think the product benefits from having a "final boss" type character that isn't around all the time. The final boss only works if someone beats him definitively at the right time. Otherwise, it's pointless.

Otherwise, it's pointless. I disagree. You need some legitimacy/credibility with a guy who rarely loses and Lesnar is legitimate and credible. He's added a ton to many PPV cards just by his presence, which is in part built up by ending the Streak. Now if he is on his way out then he should lose and probably will to Reigns.

Otherwise, it's pointless. And considering it's going to go to Roman, who's already main-evented 3 WrestleManias in a row, won a Royal Rumble, and been a multi-time world champion, I think it's safe to say it's pointless.

I don't know if I'd be happy with it, but at least it would've gone to somebody who felt like they earned it. Also, Brock Lesnar is the WORST final boss ever. He only has two moves, one that he spams and a finisher. He isn't a final boss: he's one of those online spammer cheaters. Do people really still count moves? Lesnar's had numerous great matches and moments since his return in 2012 and most of them are aided by the unique aura he carries with him into his matches which makes them feel special.

That's absolutely f***ing stupid.

In not suggesting every month, but not seeing the belt for months on end is counterproductive. Add to that his inability to make anyone look good, and he's a giant waste

To be fair, when it comes to HBK, when it is any chance to go over, Shawn has historically felt like he earned it, and would say so loudly every chance he got.

The streak should never have ended. Brock didn't gain much from it. He's still phoning in matches and standing silently looking bored while Heyman repeats the same promo every time he appears, and since his loss, Undertaker's star presence has faded much faster than it would have done due to his sheer age and physical condition.

I don't think it should have been broken but if they wanted Reigns to beat him one day then he should have been the one to break it. He beats him. Everyone flips out and Roman properly turns heel.

I think HBK shouldve won the second match but still retired.
I don't mind Lesnar winning though. I think it was for the best the streak ended if only to give us the feeling there are no sure bets.
Giving it to a young up-and-comer might have been counterproductive since the expectations would be huge for "the guy who broke the streak".
The fan reaction when Lesnar got the pin was amazing. The crowd was STUNNED SILENT. Not many things can do that.

The night after Roman DID beat Taker was a perfect set-up to a heel turn. And he would have been the top heel in the company. And overconfident smug prick that just retired a legend. Instead, they kept him face. If Roman had broken the streak, WWE would have kept him face. Roman is never turning heel.

Not to mention other casualties like Cesaro. When Heyman was managing Cesaro, he would gush about Lesnar conquering the strak even though he wasn't even freaking there, and outright ignored the poor guy who was there. And they didn't even use this to push Cesaro vs Lesnar. It was just a pointless blowjob for Lesnar.

Was it so pointless when Hulk Hogan was the one to finally slam and beat Andre the Giant, even though he had been WWF Champion for the last three years at that point? There is something to be said for using the last HUGE WIN you can have to turn the top star you have into an ICON of the industry. This is also why Lesnar wasn't the right pick, and why Shawn wouldn't be the right pick either. When The Streak became that big, YOU COULD NOT MESS AROUND WITH THE KINGSLAYER. The person who broke The Streak, and now the person who beats Lesnar, HAS TO BE THE PERSON WHO'S GOING TO LEAD WWE INTO THE 2020s. If WWE thinks it's Reigns, it should be Reigns. If they think Balor, make it Balor. They think Jordan, make it Jordan. They think it's Curt Hawkins, make it Curt Hawkins if they had to. But whoever was going to be the one to break The Streak had to be the one who is going to lead WWE into the 2020s. And somehow, WWE BLEW THAT. They blew it with the Undertaker/Lesnar feud, they blew it with the Goldberg feud, and somehow, even if Lesnar is an unbeatable demi-god, he doesn't seem as deadly as Lesnar was (and now, WWE will have to do Goldberg/Reigns at next Wrestlemania to get the same thing.) Lesnar shouldn't have done it. Shawn shouldn't have done it. It wouldn't be the popular move, but Roman Reigns should have ended The Streak.

I think it would have been better if Tom Brady broke it. He is the G.O.A.T.

Instead, they kept him face. Honestly, it’s worse than that. They booked a scenario they knew was going to get an angry reaction from a crowd, beautifully I may add, and got Roman so hated that it made the moment he said 5 words the best in his career bar none... And then they nullified it seconds, SECONDS, later by saying those angry fans didn’t mattered since they’re the post ‘Mania crowd, not only saying that there are certain crowds that didn’t matter but also the crowd that paid HUNDREDS of dollars to go there, the most passionate fans in the world, didn’t matter either. So who does? The family that goes to a Raw house show? Because they seem to be the only ones willing to pay to watch the show to some degree. Why go to WrestleMania and get invested in all that stuff? The last bit is looking a tad too much into it but at the same time...why say that? Especially to one of the biggest TV audiences you’ll get all year.

No. HBK was already a living legend by that stage and would gain nothing by the win and Taker would gain nothing by losing.
The only good that might have come out of that would be Taker/HBK Wrestlemania rubber match.
As for Brock, I think it would have meant more beating the streak at this stage of Taker’s career, if he retired.
