I think the best course of action, other than to just play the anthem before the players take the field, thus eliminating any visible form of protest, is to ask the protesting players not to kneel or sit during the anthem. That seems to be what gets at the craw of the people who oppose the anthem protests. You don't hear complaints when players lock arms or hold a fist in the air, but when a player kneels down or sits down, that's when the fans seem to be most upset. Basically, the NFL could tell the players: you can protest in any way you'd like, but you have to remain standing while doing so.

Maybe the NFL should tell the TV crews to stop talking about it and stop sticking a camera in the face of every kneeling player, then talking about it again and again.
The players would lose most of the publicity for their message and in theory would move to something else.

It's almost baffling how much the NFL cuts off its nose to spite its face when it comes to this. Take lessons from the NBA. Maybe if Goodell and the owners treated the players like business partners instead of acting like unilateral dictators, there'd be much more respect between the NFL higher ups and their players.

I know they play the Anthem before the games, but besides a moment after 9-11 I never have seen the Anthem performance broadcasted in the regular season before the game until the whole Kaepernik protest. And after that I would bet that they (NFL/Broadcasters) in league with gambling used it for prop bets. Not to get political, I am just saying.

I think they also broadcast the anthem on the first game of every regular season because I believe some big name is always brought out for it.

Since there is no CFL thread, I will just put it here.
Johnny Manziel has been traded to Montreal. He will get his chance to play right away.

Really shocked about Tony Sparano's death. Way too young.

Are we all ready for Patrick Mahomes to dominate this league? He's in Kansas City. Andy Reid will f***ing choke again like he always does. Mahomes will be lucky if he gets ONE playoff win before the Chiefs finally realize that Reid is utter trash as a coach.

This Chiefs team is going to dominate on offense man..Reid or not it doesn't matter.

Richard Sherman has been cleared and will open camp actually playing. For the 49ers, in case anyone forgot.

To the cowboy fans in this thread, the only way you'll be successful again is when Jerry Jones dies.
Also Jason Garrett is nothing more than a wax sculpture that came out of Jerry's ass.

So should we make another thread if the browns are going 0-16 again or we should wait?
Hue needs to go undefeated for the next two years just to have a winning record. I think he's the worst coach in history. He should be arrested for impersonating a coach.
