So Kidman's character was pretty much if Harley Quinn was pining for Batman?

Honestly I find Batman Forever to be still pretty watchable. It's not particularly good, and it has a ton of things I can point to as problems with it (most of the cast really) but I don't mind it as a time killer and Carrey is a lot of fun.

UGH. Just talk about the f***ing movie. God damn. Not every f***ing review has to have "crossovers" and set up skits.

I'm a big fan of Forever.
Is it a great movie? No.
Does it have massive problems? absolutely. One of the biggest to me being that they had Two Face be "wacky" too instead of being the straight man to Riddler's antics.
But Forever's Gotham was the first one that felt like a city and not like 3 cramped streets.

I don't get it. At all. It's kind of a small horse, I mean what am I missing? Am I crazy?

I thought 'Forever' had *just* the right element of cartoonish fun.

It's a fascinating movie to me. You can see remnants of what had to be tons of rewrites.
It's like two hours long, but doesn't tend to feel it since there's something always going on. Does each subplot get the right amount of development? NOPE, they have like 3-4 too many, but that, too, is kinda fascinating.
Val Kilmer seems to be doing some sort of Adam West impression as Wayne in some scenes, mostly with his halting delivery.
Bruce and Alfred solving riddles together is somewhat silly in its way, and they probably should have had Dick sitting with them, too, even if he wasn't much help, but it was also kinda sweet to see them spending time together.

I've always felt that Kilmer was the best fit for a Bruce Wayne character. He plays the "I'm a rich socialite who totally has nothing sneaky about me" coyness on such a degree of almost giving it away at times but nailing it when necessary.
That ramble of a sentence is my best explanation of my feeling of his performance after 20 daggone years.

Batman and Robin is bad but fun. Would watch that multiple times on VHS as a kid. Forever was just simply a bore. Jim Carrey couldn't save it for and I was a big fan of his back then. His first bad film since he became a major star IMO.
EDIT: I meant to type "Batman and Robin" but forgot "Robin". derp.

I liked Batman Forever.

A big issue I have with the movie is the plan feels more Mad Hatter than Riddler.

I was 7 when this movie came out, so I was pretty much in the target demo at the time. It was a lot of fun to watch at the time, and even as an adult, I still have a soft spot for it.

I dislike it, but gosh it still has its moments. I was all in back then, so I really gave it a pass on a lot of stuff and enjoyed it a LOT.
Rewatching it recently........was irksome, because those overlooked problems were all out in the open now, but those fond memories really lingered more than enough that I didn't hate it.
B&R, though, is noxious. Everything bad about Batman Forever plus a thousand new atrocities.

(not to mention things like constantly flipping the coin to get the decision he wanted made the entire coin flip gimmick kinda pointless) He should have been the straight man to the Gorshin style Riddler.

Are you talking about the scene at Wayne Manor when they break in? I saw a good explanation to him flipping the coin multiple times. It said that he wasn't flipping it to get to killing Bruce, but he was flipping it to decide the fates of Alfred and Dr. Meridian.
