Looking only at the years when the NWA was still involved (1983-1990). Remember, Starrcade was Crockett/WCW's biggest show of the year.

Early on, the main event was a lot more important, and under talent was poor. The concept of only important matches also only grew with time, considering The Executioner and SD Jones' participation in WM 1, and George Wells and Uncle Elmer at 2, and even the amount of straight forward no angle almost job matches in the undercard of WM6. I think that concept changed for both during the Nitro/Raw era of only big matches at the big PPV. Randy Rose was part of the original Midnight Express angle, which was over to an extent. Johnny Weaver was huge in the Carolinas. Shaska Whatley was a guy in the 80s, especially for Paul Jones. That 1990 show with the stupid tournament had a lot of these job types, undeserving of a big show. They should have had the prelim matches on tv and saved the Steiners versus Muta for the PPV. But great list of under types. They will all never be the Gambler. Looking only at the years when the NWA was still involved (1983-1990). Oh, sure, but there's the thing - you pulled Executioner, Jones, Welles and Elmer out of memory, right? Would you have been able to do the same had the roles been reversed, and been able to instantly name Mr. Ito or Buzz Tyler?

No, other than SD Jones I had to look it up. I could probably name 14 off your list off the top of my head, but Im a NWA nerd.
