don't worry that's plan Q on cena's "paths to get to wrestlemania because i'm john cena and don't have one yet oh woe is me!" he'll then wander into NXT looking for a match at Mania... Regal will then try to explain to him that they have their own show that weekend and won't be at Mania... this concept will confuse and irritate Cena ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) Gran Metalik is there, Cena! Come on already.

Have to agree with the folk saying that the spot shouldn't be on the line.
Using the G1 Climax as a comparison, the stipulation makes sense there due to how the tournament allows for the overall winner to take a loss that justifies someone getting the shot. Naito won the G1 but lost to Ishii, meaning that Ishii has a strong case.
You can't really do this in the Rumble while also having a clean finish.

I thought that’s what Cena was going to do, it would have bolstered the PPV a bit and give Nakamura something to do.

Hunter didn't challenge. He wanted to face Austin because Austin cost him against Kurt at Rumble IIRC. Owen challenged in 1996 because he took out Shawn at the end of 1995. I think Shawn made the Vince/Austin match at St. Valentines Day Massacre after Vince cheated to win the Rumble. Big Show challenged because of the controversial ending to the Rumble match. Kurt didn't challenge, he was just facing H for reasons I can't remember. No, Kurt did challenge and won at No Way Out with Steph as the ref, but there was another match the next night on Raw that HHH won to get back the title shot. Last time someone challenged for the rumble shot was CM Punk challenging Cena for it and Punk lost in a good match. I don't remember the rematch, thats weird.

I do, it was after HHH ditched Steph on the renewing of the vows that it was announced Steph would be the ref and HHH's Mania title shot would be on the line. Steph screwed over HHH and Angle won, but HHH got a rematch for the spot and won. It was afterwards that the world champion Jericho and Steph became business partners.

I've always thought it was dumb that you could lose the title shot you won.
