Not usually a fan of "musical" episodes with a few exceptions. Not really gimmick episode but the entire faux documentary gimmick of shows annoy me when there's no reason for it to be one or setup for it. The Office which is more or less where it started, the idea was they were shooting a documentary and occasionally you heard the guys asking questions with the asides... then other shows in that format just have them talking to the camera just because. It was a huge mistake for The Muppets to use that format, which was already extraordinarily old hat at that point.

"Newsradio" did a couple gimmick episodes, one where they were in the future, one where they were on the "Titanic"; neither of which were as good as the more conventional eps.
Don't know if it counts but the "Sopranos" episode that focused on whether or not to celebrate Christopher Columbus was pretty awful.
Wasn't a big fan of the "Law and Order/Homicide" crossovers either.

Yeah, I know they weren't the first but they were one of the ones that popularized it ESPECIALLY in America.

There was an episode of the Cosby show in which Rudy came into Cliff and Claire's bedroom and read them a story she had written. We then see the entire cast of the show (Cliff, Claire, Bud, Rudy, ect) all act out the story as the various characters. It was sort of a medieval fairy tale story, and I was really getting into it...then suddenly Rudy's character near the end just shouts "EVERYONE STOP FIGHTING" and that's it. Rudy ends the story and walks off. Even Cliff and Claire were like "What??"
I think the lesson of the episode was the children have really simple solutions to really complicated problems, but it more came off like the show writers realized they went over time and had to give a last second shit ending. It's a shame to, because I was really enjoying the episode until that point.

Didn't see that one as I haven't watched Flash since season 2, I just had enough of it's shittyness (Same with Arrow & Legends)

I really hated when Drew Carey went overboard with Whose Line and Spot The Mistakes episodes.

I’m talking the type where a show tries tsome ridiculous gimmick in a blatant attempt to just generate a little buzz, most likely to temporarily revive sagging ratings. The later seasons of Family Matters were full of these with Urkel traveling in time, shrinking himself, and creating an evil dummy. But I think the worst one, IMO, was the episode of Seinfeld where they ran it in reverse sequence-even twenty years later I can’t figure out what the hell the motivation behind that was. Any other examples? Seinfeld is one of my favorite shows but yes I hate that reverse episode with a passion.

Don’t remember a dream episode of any show that wasn't the Newhart finale thatI enjoyed. Fixed for myself. Newhart wasn't only the standard for dream episodes, but the only one that should exist. Back to musicals, the Raising Hope one was a glaring example of bad ones. I'm sure we can name loads from Happy Days or Laverne & Shirley.

Was Larry his brother Darryl and his other brother Darryl in it?

Any other examples? To be fair, that episode was mostly a nightmare that Steve had. The same could be said about the sequel episode with the Carl dummy. However, the other episodes with these over-the-top gadgets that he created made the show more of a sci-fi show than ever before.

And it taught me that my name is Jagdish in India. 😊

I don't like it when dramas try and shoehorn an episode revolving around Christmas into an ongoing narrative.

Any other examples? The Betrayal is a complete homage to a play called Betrayl, which plays out in reverse order. The motivation of the last two seasons was Larry David was gone and the writers and Seinfeld felt dad was gone and they could have fun.
