Any cartoon where a main character complains about being too short and us drawn shorter than every other episode.

Never was a fan of germaphobe episodes, mostly in cartoons. They are all kind of the same.

Not really a gimmick, but the 'clap for every cast member who shows up' gimmick in TV shows (mostly done when a shows about to be cancelled) annoys me.

Futurama could be brilliant, but some of their gimmick episodes are terrible, such as the "singing boil on Leela's ass" episode. It wasn't even a clever topical joke, and given the amount of times she's been nude, in a bikini, underwear, etc, I don't get why people wouldn't have noticed it already, or why she wouldn't have had it removed.

I don't get it. At all. It's kind of a small horse, I mean what am I missing? Am I crazy?

Daria! The musical episode, although done in a way fitting to the show, was pretty weak

Its odd because the gimmick format episodes (Anthology of Interest, the anime/video game/old timey cartoon) were always great. Its the one joke episodes (Leela's boil, the Globetrotters refuse Bender) that can get pretty old.

Treehouse of Horror was fine, but all the times they tried to replicate it by doing other "three stories" plots it fell flat.

as i'm watching legends of tomorrow and the plot of the episode is based on this, "groundhog day" rip off plots, the only two shows i saw do it well was stargate SG1 mainly because they screw around with it part way through, and supernatural where dean keeps getting killed.

Yeah, most time loop episodes are pretty bad. But I do agree on the Stargate one being great.

Actually, the death of Brian episode was on last night on TBS. The moment itself was handled well, IMO. It's downfall was, 1) we knew it wouldn't last. 2) it was business as usual for the rest of the episode, and 3) VINNY.
