In Canada, Sears. Never thought an icon like that would crumble.

MTV. I know they still exist but nobody really cares compared to how hot they were when they were playing videos 24/7. I’m old enough to have seen how incredible that network used to be. Music will always be around. There were a lot of classic videos back in the day. That format could’ve lasted forever. Suddenly they shifted priorities to reality television and went completely to shit. Sure they got ratings but their cool factor nosedived and never recovered.

It's not dead yet, but I just always assumed The Warped Tour would be there.

Clear channel/I heart radio. It seemed like they would eventually rule everything. Never thought I would see them get their comeuppance. Creditors were apparently willing to extend them a $5 billion rain check, so you definitely weren’t the only one.

Borders/Waldenbooks had some stuff that my local Barnes and Noble didn't. I guess not adapting to ebooks killed them

Radio Shack [here]; They had almost any weird computer part you could name, Also they had sweet RC cars. They had the coolest radio kits, shortwave, RC vehicles. I loved that place. They turned into a phone store for the last couple of years. Now it's a Sprint store. Might as well, they don't have to remove much stock.

Ansett Airlines
Arguably Australia’s largest domestic carrier (Qantas was more focused on international routes). Just a year before they went belly up they were a major sponsor of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.
Then suddenly it’s gone, all flights grounded and cancelled..

HMV was and still is a shocker to me; I always thought they'd be the one company to withstand and adapt to online retail purely because they were HMV. For them to just disappear overnight was madness.

Woolworths.
Pretty much guaranteed to be one in every High street across the UK.. Many an Item purchased.
It's nearly been 10 years and their absence still feels some what odd.

Hastings is one that surprised me I miss Hastings. I should have seen them going out of business coming. While they had great deals and sales on Used DVDs (so much of my DVD collection was rental copies they sold), and sales on comic books, the prices on the not so great electronics, and action figures/statues could get out of hand. And there was always Wal Mart to undersell them on DVDs, although around here for awhile, they were kicking Wal Mart's ass due to Wal Mart moving the Electronics manager, to a different department, and the Electronics Department took a massive downturn.
