I realise this will have a lot of cross over into pre Attitude Era but I thought I'd post it here as the majority will probably be post 1997 answers. Who is your favourite wrestler for each year that you were watching wrestling and why? 1992: Randy Savage. He was colourful and a good guy. Also I was 6 so I'm easily pleased. 1993: Bret Hart. I hated him losing to Yokozuna and I hated Owen Hart more than I loved Bret. I didn't watch wrestling regularly until 1998, when I first discovered WCW 1998: Tie between DDP and Goldberg. This is difficult because I was also a huge fan of Sting, Hollywood Hogan, Raven, Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, Dean Malenko and just about everyone on the WCW roster. I didn't watch wrestling regularly until Royal Rumble 2000 2000: Triple H. He was pure evil, until the summer when he started getting Austin like pops because he was the arch enemy of a dork like Kurt Angle. 2001: Kurt Angle. If 2000 Angle was the perfect heel, then 2001 Angle was the perfect face. He was a Terminator going after Stone Cold during the Invasion and Austin made him look like a million bucks. Shame about the tail end of the year but Angle was the absolute best in 2001. 2002: Chris Jericho. Not a massive fan of him playing second fiddle to HHH and Stephanie but Jericho was a heel for the first time since 1999 and I was digging it. 2003: Brock Lesnar. He carried Smackdown and I'm surprised that Vince didn't shove him to Raw ASAP as would happen today. 2004: Tie between Benoit and Guerrero 2005:Edge. He burned his way to the main event as a heel and was never hotter. I stopped watching regularly until 2009. 2009: Randy Orton. I hated Orton with a passion, he was generic douchebag, but he cut his hair, tattooed himself, changed his attitude and acquired the cult of Cody and Ted. Nobody was better than Orton in 2009. 2010 and 2011: CM Punk. Nothing else I can add to this, Punk was the best and hottest wrestler in the world. Honourable mentions to R Truth and Jeff Hardy around this time. 2012/2013: Mark Henry and the Hall of Pain. Honourable mention to the retirement speech, which still gets me every time. The tears in his eyes, "John this is something you gotta earn", the crowd really being into it, Mark's face after the slam. 2014: Daniel Bryan. Obvious reasons. I haven't watched WWE in any regular format since but I'll try and give a quick list of my favourites, discounting NXT. 2015: Seth Rollins (Terbil as Tyler Black in ROH, not as Seth ROLLINS in WWE) 2016: Dean Ambrose. My favourite from CZW faces Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania. What could go wrong? 2017: it's looking more and more like Kenny Omega the more of his back catalogue I go through from this year. I wasn't watching much wrestling in 2017 live to make an informed decision but Pete Dunne, Andrade Cien Almas, AJ Styles, The Miz have been my favourites. WHO ARE YOUR FAVOURITES BY YEAR FAN?

The clear cut favorites I can remember
1996: HBK (I was really young at the time, but I loved HBK and even though I see why people hated him as a face back then, the matches are still incredible)
1998: Austin (just a magical time to be a kid into wrestling. Even if a lot of the other Attitude Era stuff doesn't hold up, Austin still does iMO)
1999: Austin (see above)
2000: The Rock (I was a boring kid who liked the faces and hated the heels, The Rock more than made up for Austin's absence as the top face for me)
2012: Punk (the guy who brought me back and kept me around with his great matches and promos)
2016: Ambrose (to me, going by crowd reactions, he may have been the biggest face in the company. He could've been even bigger if the Brock match didn't suck so much, sure, but I still feel like he did okay for himself coming out of it and I actually enjoyed his WWE title run)
2017: Alexa Bliss (loved her promos and facial expressions, thought she was decent enough in the ring and still do)

As a very young kid in the early 90s all the typical ones like Hogan/Savage/Warrior.
Up to 98: HBK - the reason I kept watching as I grew up. Jericho and DDP as WCW favourites. Diamond Cutters ruled and Jericho was hilarious.
98-00: Stone Cold - I don't dance, son.
00-02: HHH/Kurt Angle. - Kurt with hair was the best. HHH was the man back then. (I was actually delighted when he retained at WM2000!)
02-10: HBK. Back to my boy Heartbreak when he returned
10-18: Jericho I guess? Maybe Rollins/Punk when Jericho took his breaks.

1989 or so 'til 1993 - Hulk Hogan (my earliest wrestling memories) 1994-1996 Toss up between Shawn Michaels and Razor Ramon/Scott Hall (charismatic and put on great matches) 1997-2000 Stone Cold Steve Austin (anti-authority when I was a pissed off teenager) 2001-2004 Kurt Angle (could excel in any style of wrestling match) 2005-2008 Claudio Castagnoli (young talented dude I saw frequently at indie shows with my college friends) 2009-2013 CM Punk (liked him a bunch on the indies, I was excited for his success in WWE) 2014-2015 Daniel Bryan (another dude I enjoyed on the indies, I got sucked into the emotional roller coaster that was his main event run/losing titles to injuries) 2016-now-ish Rusev (exciting big man, can be funny or serious, I wanna see him carry a world title)

Oh. Yeesh. Ok. Let's see.
1999- Mankind. He was in the first match I officially watched, the HalfTime Heat special with him and the Rock, so he was an important part of my first year as a wrestling fan. 2000-2005 Chris Jericho. He joined WWF a few months after I started watching, and his charisma caught my attention pretty quickly. I was thrilled when he beat Rock and Austin since they were both guys my brother liked, and he didn't really care for Jericho, so it was great to tease him about. I was heartbroken when Jericho left WWE. 2006 Randy Orton. Rated RKO was a great tag team that year 2007-2010 Chris Jericho. Jericho's return was fantastic, and we had stuff like Jerishow and his World Heavyweight title run in these years. 2011-2013 CM Punk. Kinda generic but I was always a Punk fan, and his Pipebomb promo and everything leading up into MITB and afterwards totally had me hooked for weeks. 2014-2016 Seth Rollins. I liked him well enough in the Shield but his heel stuff was ridiculous. His knee injury and having to relinquish the heavyweight title hurt about as much as Jericho's first time leaving WWE did. 2017 James Ellsworth. 2017 wasn't the easiest year. And James always cheered me up and made me laugh, so I looked forward to seeing him and Carmella weekly. I'm still really annoyed by his firing.

Judging the responses the WWE killed it with HBK's 1996 run.
