Batista was honestly one of my favorite wrestlers after he made his face turn. That injury basically killed everything, but the guy was great.

Face Batista was so cool up until his injury. Coming back from being injured he wasn't the savvy, clever powerhouse anymore, but was just another bog-standard main event face.

"Friends don't shake hands. Friends gotta hug."I was really enjoying this feud. On top of everything else, it was awful that Eddie's death derailed what was a very interesting angle. Did anyone ever come out and talk about where they planned on taking it? Eddie's reaction at the end always had me cracking up. Eddie's face is: "How and when did I lose control of this situation?"

Batista did the smart babyface act the right way at that time, by doing that based on the history of the characters he was interacting with, not because of being fourth wall breaking genre-savvy and being all “This is what always happens in wrestling”. Its amazing really. Batista is the blueprint for how to book Reigns. Not sure how they don't see it

Yeah, 2005 Batista...might be the best-written babyface ever? Like, at least in terms of "not being the same gullible idiot every other babyface ever always is"(here's looking at you specifically Sting)? Yep. Batista was that dude. He got money, he caught bodies, he wore the finest clothes, he got hoes, and he constantly outsmarted the heels. He was everything my young 10year old self idolized and I latched onto him as a result.

My second-favorite version of Batista, aside from Douche-tista. Not only was he a force in the ring, he could also outsmart you and just act completely confident in the fact that he knew exactly what he was doing. it really added to the mystique of his alliance with HHH and Evolution. Like, you took this dude who was a monster physically but just didn't have much experience. HHH, being the "cerebral assassanin", inadvertedly gave Batista all of the tools he would need to break through that upper level and even outsmart HHH himself. He watched a master peform his craft and then became a master himself, more powerful than anybody could have ever imagined.

remember when he got that pervy doctor to give Eddie a prostate exam because Eddie said he was too sick to wrestle? good times. Ah yes gay dudes being stereotyped as perverts and anal rape. Good times.

"Friends don't shake hands. Friends gotta hug."I was really enjoying this feud. On top of everything else, it was awful that Eddie's death derailed what was a very interesting angle. Did anyone ever come out and talk about where they planned on taking it? According to Bruce Pritchard.... Anyone help me out on the rest? ...whatever Meltzer said should be discounted because Meltzers sources might be wrong 10% of the time so we have to disregard 100% of his newsletter for some reason. Its such nonsense. Then why cover any news then? Why have a paper or news channels? The sources on a single story might be incorrect, so just all of it should be dismissed? f*** off, stooge. I love the podcast but my respect for his views/opinions went way down when the guy had the nerve to say what he did about Booker T/HHH. I don't even mean pretending there weren't intentional racist overtones. I mean him flat out saying that a a single Pedigree followed by a near 30 second pause before a pinfall was the right finish. No, the f*** it wasn't. Just stop it. Funny how Angle and Brock got to kick out of finishers without long pauses inbetween, but the ALMIGHTY Triple H with the DEVASTATING Pedigree was able to get it done with just one and a long break inbetween it and the pinfall. Also, its interesting how HHHs best friend was able to kick out of the Pedigree after enduring a 30 minute Elimination Chamber match just 5 months prior. It wasn't the right finish. Every argument he made was bullshit. Booker should have won and you're delusional if you say otherwise.

I'd like to think he was easily able to outsmart Triple H because he knew so much about him from his time in Evolution and just used that to his advantage. Yet Randy Orton couldn't. to be fair, that voice could have just gotten outvoted by the other voices in his head all the time.

If Street Smart Batista faced Undertaker at Wrestlemania 23, he would see through all the dead man tactics. He was way too cookie cutter face by 2007 and it WAS A DAMN SHAME. DAMN SHAME.
