Too bad they had to tone it down for the sequel and the less said about the third one the better You're right. The meddling ruined what could have been a great franchise. But I get why. Silliness but I can understand. As a person who got into martial arts as a kid through my teenage years, it made me upset that rather than use something like this to get kids into martial arts and take it up to learn the discipline, teach self defense, promote physical fitness, and do something that promotes creativity as well. But it became parents trying to police their kid's real babysitter, the tv.

There are things to like about 2, like "A little too Raph" is a line I still quote and have affection for, but the movie is so much weaker than the first film.
3 is a goddamn mess. The Next Mutation is arguably of more merit. That is not a good thing.

Hell you could make the case that the third movie killed the series

Hell you could make the case that the third movie killed the series The Cartoon stopped creating new episodes for like 2 years (and was probably mostly off the air) by the time the third movie came out which as a kid was a pretty much forever so it as the big fad was mostly dead at that point... but on the other hand they probably could have squeezed a few more movies if they put out a decent third one.

I liked 2 as a kid because it was more "Upbeat" (The first was pretty dark for a kids movie) but when I watched it recently.....yeesh.
I haven't seen 3 since I was a kid, I even hated it then

2 is sillier, but still fun to watch (unlike 3). The first and second movies have much different tones to them but they're both good in their own right.

Two is closer in tone to the old cartoon, so I can kind of dig it for that...but it is a total contradiction to the first film. Movie 1 Shedder probably would have just murdered Tokka and Razar and started over. It's okay for what it is, but the first Turtles movie is still the best of all of them.

Haha! I made another funny! I like the implication made there, if you ignore that it's just him breaking the fourth wall, that he went like a year without cracking any jokes whatsoever.
