Still the best Turtles movie (07 & Forever were good as well)
Also I still rock this on my Ipod (Although "Raph He's the leader of the group" irritates a little)

I still think this is a great movie and I'd love to see an extended cut with all the deleted scenes put back in.

Easily one of the best comics based movies there ever was. Just the right balance of 'dark' and cartoony.

Too bad they had to tone it down for the sequel and the less said about the third one the better

This was one of the first movies I remember watching. Still holds up after all these years.
Tamara was right about that one guy being Sam Rockwell.
I feel like watching it again right now, actually.

I need to upgrade my copy of the movie. Got the DVD of it,that looks like they used a ex rental VHS as the master. Looks horrible and honestly looks worse than the VHS copy I grabbed a few years ago.
I was surprised when I went to see the movie how close it stayed to the Mirage comic.

Yeah, isn't the fight that burned down April's place, then convalescing at the barn, pretty much right out of the comics? I know IDW also did the barn thing, so it wouldn't be the last time Mirage got sendups.

Gotta remember in the Mirage comic Shredder dies in the second or third issue. I need to see if my library can get trades of the IDW TMNT stuff. Only IDW TMNT I have read was the first Batman/TMNT mini.

I have enjoyed pretty much every run of the TMNT comics. Even the Archie one that started off being based on the Fred Wolf cartoon.

I am a big fan of TMNT, even to the point where the Archie series was the only comic I collected damn near to it's entirety. When the first film came out, it was the greatest thing I had ever seen in my young life.
I was about 9 when it came out on video, and my younger brother, who was 4 then, and I begged our mom to rent it for us one Saturday morning. Back then kids, video stores in small towns weren't a thing, so gas stations would carry single copies of films. You were lucky to rent a copy of a popular film. This particular Saturday, luck was on our side, or so I thought.
We got the video, and we watched it 4 times in a row. Finally, my mom made us turn it off, I assume for her sanity, and made us play outside. Of course, what would two young boys want to do after a marathon of ninja action, but recreate scenes from the movie. We pretend fought, and our final battle culminated in me, playing the role of Shredder, and my brother was Leonardo. It was all fun and games, until I jumped into the air landing a perfectly placed kick to my baby brother's knee on the way down; breaking his leg. He cried in pain, and I had my first "holy shit" moment of my life.
He ended up needing a cast. This happened a week before the family's planned trip to Disney World. We couldn't cancel our plans, as it was to be a 2 week, driving vacation to Florida, with all the fun tourist traps along the way. We ended up going to not just Disney, but Epcot, Bush Gardens, Universal Studios, etc., and every ride we went on, we got to skip to the front of the line, all because of my obsession with TMNT.
This is one of my family's favorite stories to tell, and eventually my brother did forgive me, because on that trip, he became a king.

I'm surprised this hasn't had a full on special edition yet.
It was a big hit and TMNT still has a following (as does this movie)

This movie was WAY better than it needed to be.
It could have been a cheesy mess and we probably would have still made our parents take us to the theater to see it.
