But all Sucker Punch was was a 90 minute series of music videos that objectified and idealized beautiful women, wrapped around by a story about how it's bad to objectify and idealize beautiful women. The whole thing came off so unsavory, I don't really need that stretched out to 4 hours long, Zack. His justification for that mess was stunningly dumb. Zack, that's your audience, bro. And they didn't get it.

doesn't he have a new film due out soon he should be promoting?
if he's angling to go back to WB to "fix" an already finished (thirteen year old) movie, I'm guessing netflix have already had enough of his bullshit and are not looking to renew his contract.

I think every director in the universe has put out a film where they go "if I could just fix x, y, and z, this whole thing would come off so much better". Like they say, hindsight is 20/20. Sucker Punch was also made at Warner Bros, so I doubt the higher ups over there would be willing to throw more money at him to "finish" another project that he swears is done, he just needs to put it together. How Did This Get Made podcast did an episode on it. I was a big fan of that podcast at the time. Haven't listened in years.

Holy shit, you're right. It's out at the end of next week, and I haven't seen it promoted anywhere beyond the trailer drop a couple of weeks back. Part 1 got a solid 3-4 weeks of promotion leading up to its release.

I've been getting some Youtube ads and they promoted it during Mania, but that's like all I've heard of the thing.

I only knew it was out soon as I'd left netflix on without selecting something and it did a random "coming soon" screensaver, didn't know it was out in just over a week.

Rebel Moon part 2 is coming out on netflix soon... and with how part 1 landed with a wet fart, he probably sees the writing on the wall and wants to try and get people talking about him again. as for the advertising on Part 2 I've only seen the like one mention on Mania Weekend for it. But the Snyder Cut of Part 1 and 2 still has to come out! edit: also like the "totally finished Snyder cut" still needed 70 million dollars worth of reshoots... and this movie is 13 years old... it's going to be damn obvious if you need any reshoots.

Best thing about Sucker Punch was Scott Glenn. But then again he was the only one not raping, being raped, or party to rape so I guess its kind of by default.

Sucker Punch felt like Snyder saw Inception and thought he could do better but he'd do his with hot chicks instead...

Sucker Punch felt like Snyder saw Inception and thought he could do better but he'd do his with hot chicks instead... Sucker Punch is so bad that even though it has scenes where hot chicks run around bare-footed, Quentin Tarantino still put it on his Worst Movies of 2011 list.

Sucker Punch is incredible for somehow managing to be both empowering and really sexist at the same time.

I would think Snyder is a huge Tarantino fan. Of course all Snyder would see is the kewl violence and understand nothing else.

And they didn't get it. "Sucker Punch is a f*** you to a lot of people who will watch it" and "people don't like to see their heroes deconstructed" tell you everything you need to know about the chasm between the movies Zack Snyder thinks he makes (or else, wants to make) and the movies he actually makes. Mind you, this is the same guy who took Watchmen, a property where all the heavy lifting of actual deconstruction was already handled by Alan Moore, and landed on "Rorschach is badass and Ozymandias is teh ghey".
