If he keeps this up Zack's gonna be lucky if he even gets to make a Steven Seagal direct to DVD flick shot in Budapest but meant to be Miami somehow
Oh who am I kidding? He'll fall ass backwards into directing "epics" starring Jim Caviezel, Gina Carano & Kevin Sorbo if you get my meaning

Snyder right now kind of feels like someone who's realizing what was supposed to be his grand comeback was instead just a minor irrelevant blip and is now desperately scrambling trying to find some new path forward.

He was very much expecting the SnyderCut to show them all! But it wasn't... it came and went and I doubt most of the public at large even realized or cared about it. Cause as I've been saying from the start... the public at large seemingly has no interest in Snyder's take on the DC universe.

He and his fans fully expected Warner Bros. to come crawling back and hand him the keys to the kingdom. Instead it merely reinforced their desire to distance themselves from him and his vision, and rightly so.

If anything I think releasing the Snyder cut hurt him more than it never coming out. If it had never been released he could mythologize about it to his weird cultus forever and there'd always be people even outside of that thinking "yknow maybe he was screwed over and maybe we were robbed of something cool". But, now it's out there and while it isn't terrible by any means it also isn't particularly great and basically confirms people's opinion that his movies are too long and self indulgent for their own good. It didn't set the World on fire and now he's left with nothing to rally behind.

It didn't set the World on fire and now he's left with nothing to rally behind. Well, he does. "Warner Bros.' management are horrible, racist people and need to be fired so the people who replace them can give me what I want" isn't a rallying point with a strong foundation, but it's something his cult are rallying behind nonetheless.

There was stuff in the Snyder cut I thought worked better and it felt more “epic”, but it was at the cost of a lot of the tongue in cheek fun of the first version. It’s a comic book movie that’s too proud and haughty to admit it’s actually a wild superhero film, and not this faux-deep “art house” thing. Whedon can be criticized for a number of reasons but his JL cut at least knew when to loosen up some.

Did anyone figure out how much time could've been reduced from the Snyder Cut if they got rid of all the unnecessary slow-motion?

Their style may not vary much, and certainly isn't for everybody, but they know exactly what they are. Snyder's DC movies so desperately want to be this modern-day Odyssey filled with complex characters and a rich mythology, but at the end of the day they're about an alien who wants to conquer Earth for no deeper motivation than because it's there, and the half-dozen people in costumes who fight him. It's like putting foie gras, caviar, and black truffle on a Sloppy Joe and trying to market it as haute cuisine.
