That Shazam scene really is a major part of what makes the movie work. Again that scenes is 100% more adult than anything Snyder did. I put it above just about everything in both the DCEU and the MCU. It's a scene that could so easily fall into Lifetime melodrama but was written, acted, and edited pitch perfectly.

a kid looking for his parents and finding that their dead has been done, especially for the whole found family aspect.
This is really the only time I can think of where the parent purposefully abandoned their child and then flat out said as much to the child's face.
It's an amazing scene where like everything just works, and despite being a heartbreaking scene in an otherwise lighthearted film as the writer said it makes the movie...

It's also a rare moment where a executive/producer with no real creative background made a creative decision for the better lol.

Credit to the Ayer Cut people, who are handling things in a much more mature manner.

Didn't James Gunn like the ZSJL or at least support the concept?
I'm surprised the Cult isn't doing a victory lap because I think the chance of new Zack Snyder-directed DC movies is quite a bit higher with this news than it was before.

Unless Snyder is installed as the King of the DCEU division with unlimited creative freedom and Justice League 2-7 already greenlit, his cultists will never be happy.

He congratulated Snyder and was an open supporter of creative rights for directors. He also wasn't shy about clapping back at the Cult, but ultimately I think if he sees money to be made from Snyder he'll offer him work. But, as the above post gets entirely correct, nothing less than Snyder in Gunn's position will satisfy his simps.

They'd still find some way to complain. RT not giving his movies 10/10 (despite rt not giving any reviews) Or zack's continual box office bombing

Don't forget Batman v Superman...which allegedly needed to make a billion to break even... didn't come close.

The fact is though it's been shown multiple times there isn't money in the Snyderverse. There's definitely money to be made, just not with the kind of budgets Snyder has been afforded. Giving him these $250-300 million budgets just encourages him to overstuff the (bloated) runtimes with all the things that turn off general audiences. He was limited to $70 million for Army of the Dead and it produced a much leaner, more enjoyable movie than anything he's made since 300.

(Also Gunn wrote Dawn of the dead... but the Snydercult like to ignore that >_> )

Getting fired by Disney for like a week is probably the best thing that happened to James Gunn's career.

I think it's safe to assume one actor in particular is now done with DC.

Got the movie and still complained
