We'll also ignore that Saudi Arabia is currently contributing to one of the greatest humanitarian crises on the planet in Yemen, spearheaded by their so-called "progressive" crown prince, but hey, money. Backed to varying degrees by the U.S., U.K., Canada, Australia, France, and NATO, amongst others. It's not a black-and-white issue. Obviously I can't go into more details due to rules, but the civil war in Yemen complicates things, especially since one of the sides is heavily backed by Al-Qaeda and North Korea, and with ISIL looking to exploit the situation. As with most such conflicts there's civilians caught in the middle.

so we are going to ignore the KSA stance on women, gays, Christians, Jews etc etc etc because OMG BROCK VS ROMAN IN A CAGE WWE should be nowhere NEAR KSA....in fact, the KSA should be boycotted and embargoed like NK and Cuba. I'm a gay Saudi. The way the LGBTQ community gets treated here can be abhorrent and, at a very immediate level, I wish I wouldn't have to live in the closet. I'm telling you, as a gay Saudi, I'm not sure what would be the benefit of WWE taking an uncharacteristically moralistic stance. My life isn't going to be any better if they don't show up and they'd just be leaving money on the table. My view on this is simple: let the cinemas in again, let WWE visit, let us see that people from other cultures who don't share our beliefs are in many ways just like us. That's one tried and tested way of bringing about the change you're alluding to.

Here's the thing. When I go to someone's home, I follow their rules. Maybe some of those rules are stupid or backwards, but I'm a guest in their house. I show the proper respect. WWE is running a show in someone else's home so to speak. It's not their place to try and rock that boat. That's a far greater issue than an American wrestling company has any chance at solving. But the thing is this certain "home's" rule is to murder me

honestly WWE is probably on pins and needles about that show anyway. may not be their call. why they're going there in the first place is kinda perplexing to me.

This leaves the door wide open for TNA to step in with the Raisha Saeed First Annual Burqa Battle Royal there!

I think the arguments about putting pressure on Saudi Arabia are for governments, rather than pro wrestling companies.
The introduction of entertainment that is generally very positive and empowering in the way it depicts women (like the current WWE), can only be a good thing for progress.
And the money helps I'm sure.

All I will say about this is can you imagine WWE running a whites only show in South Africa during Apartheid? Because this is a pretty close approximation to that.

Not WWE's fault.

It kinda is for diving in head-first into this show and booking the hell out of it, when they could've just done the same thing elsewhere like in, say, Tokyo, without the glaring omission of the womens roster.

I guess we’ll see where they stand when they do this massive show in Melbourne, Australia later in the year, in a bigger stadium than both New Orleans and Jeddah.

It is very complicated, no doubt, but the initial foreign invasion after the Houthi overthrow was conducted by the Saudi-led coalition with MBS as foreign defense minister--in fact the invasion was his first act as defense minister.

Okay, we're veering too much into religion, international politics, and going too far into taking shots at Saudi Arabia and their citizens, of which we have several members. I understand the emotions that come with these issues and if you feel that you cannot watch this show because of the issues raised in this thread, that is fine, just as some feel that would do nothing. With all of that said, I am going to lock this because the issues raised are diving deeper into territory that is more than we would like to touch on and I do not believe we can even step back from given the subject. Thank you.
