when I heard it was a two parter a few years ago I knew it was going to end that way Pretty much, yeah. Though one thing that's bugged me this entire time is that even with Thanos killing half the universe, that's still nowhere near the level of destruction Ego was trying for. They have very different goals and motivations though. Ego wants to destroy everything and rebuild it according to his design. Thanos wants to preserve life. Ego's plan is entirely selfish, while Thanos' plan is selfless. Twisted and genocidal, but still selfless.

Very true, and a big part of why I heavily enjoyed Thanos despite that, just kind of on paper it undermined his menace.

See, I found it more menacing, because it makes us ask an uncomfortable question of ourselves. While his methods are insane, can we really say he was wrong? Would any of us be willing to sacrifice half of a planet's population to allow the other half to live in paradise? Do the ends justify the means? He's knows exactly how despicable his actions are, even admits to it, and we see it plays on his conscience, but his will is so fixed that he'll let nothing get in his way.

He's knows exactly how despicable his actions are, even admits to it, and we see it plays on his conscience, but his will is so fixed that he'll let nothing get in his way. He is the definition of a great wrestling heel - he is convinced he is right. And... he has a point, which is scary. If we have reached a point of overpopulation in the universe, not just a single planet, where it cannot sustain and people are getting hurt, how do you solve the problem? Genocide is NOT the correct choice of course, but he is convinced, even though it is hurting HIM, he is right. I’m convinced he saw Gamora in the Soul Stone after the finger snap. And those lines ring very hard in my ears: “Did you do it?” “Yes.” “And what did it cost you?” “Everything.” Something else preying in my brain. Say, for the sake of argument, we do get Gamora back in A4. But what if it’s not the damaged pained adult Gamora, but this child back from the Soul Gem? They did decide to basically start over with Groot, would they be willing to do it again?

"If we can't protect the Earth, you can damn well sure we'll avenge it."
I really hope that line gets said in A4.

Really fun movie. It was like WrestleMania, the Royal Rumble and The Empire Strikes Back all put together. I really enjoyed all the interactions between all the heroes throughout the movie. I felt for Loki and Gamora getting killed off but the dust deaths didn’t hold the same gravity for me. I know they won’t stick. I don’t want them to either. It’s too obvious they won’t with all the new sequels announced. I kind of wish Marvel would’ve stated those movies would take place in the time before Avengers 3. Put it out there that Avengers 3 and 4 are too big of a deal on their own and nothing will take place independently in the timeline of those movies until after Avengers 4. I couldn’t take the multiple deaths as seriously when Thanos already brought back Vision from the dead to claim the last stone. That’s basically teasing how it’s going to be done right there. It still makes for a great story though. The only real complaint I had was how much the battle on Wakanda looked like the battle on Naboo. That kind of took me out of the moment. Haha. I also enjoyed the callbacks with references to the eye, Footloose, etc. Lots of rewarding stuff for fans here. It was very well done considering how much they had to make room for in the two and half hours run time.

I imagine Avengers 4 will be like WrestleMania 30 when it comes to payoff and a satisfying conclusion to Infinity War's events.

when Thor said “ What more do I have to lose” that line really pulled at the heart strings, Hemsworth really delivered that perfectly.

when Thor said “ What more do I have to lose” that line really pulled at the heart strings, Hemsworth really delivered that perfectly. Loved Thor in this movie. We saw Hemsworth's jocular side shine in Ragnarok, but he showed that he can damn well act too. We also found out that he's 1500 years old. Think about that. With how he has to perceive time, the events of the MCU have to feel more like a few chaotic weeks to him. Which makes him losing his father, being forced to kill his sister, and seeing his brother and best friend brutally murdered in front of him feel like a matter of hours. He sold that anguish so well.

Just got back from seeing it. Loved everything about it except the ending. I feel like not showing individuals turning to dust all over the world - and the galaxy, for that matter - was a missed opportunity to really hammer home the gravitas of what Thanos did. I haven't been so let down by a movie scene since Dumbledore's death. Other than that, the movie was spectacular. I've never loved Thor and Doctor Strange as much as I loved them in this.
Of course, in a perfect world Silver Surfer and Adam Warlock would have been a part of things, since the original comics story spun out of their series, but that's the way the cookie crumbles. At least Thanos got to shine. I was glad to see Jim Starlin get a special thanks in the credits, since so much of the film was based on his work. Guys like him, Chris Claremont, Walt Simonson, and others often don't get the credit they deserve since the movies usually only credit the characters' original creators, not other writers that have added to the mythos over the years.

Excellent movie. There was a f***ing kid crying in the theater through a ton of it though. The mother would NOT take it outside even though people were complaining. An usher had to lead her out...she came back ten minutes later, kid still screaming. It was ridiculous. There was another kid sitting right behind sick as could be and was sucking snot up his nose loud enough to wake the dead.
After the movie, this guy's girlfriend a row away was screaming at him about how "Your stupid facts are just making me more depressed!" and sobbing when he tried to explain everyone would be fine in the sequel. When he couldn't figure out how to make her stop he finally goes "Well, it wouldn't have happened if Thor just hit him in the head!" and she goes "I AM NEVER GOING TO BE MAD AT THOR!" I was f***ing dying.

I saw earlier today. I totally marked out when Cap was revealed. It seems that they were saving him and Stark fighting side by side for the next film. Just imagine the pop that Will get. My guess is that the next film will have a much optimistic approach. Even in the commercials for this flick you could sense the somber mood and things that were gonna happen. Part 4 will likely have advertisement making you feel "kick his ass!"

A random guy yelled out to her , damn lady its just a movie . which got a good laugh from everyone

My theather went absolutely nuts when Cap made his first appearance. Same when we first got to Wakanda and when Thor made it to Wakanda. That ending f***** me up though. "Mr. Stark I don't feel so good" broke me in half. I just wanted to sit in silence at the end of the movie and the post credit scene.
I need to do a crash course on Captain Marvel before next year. Any great stories of hers you'd recommend?

Any great stories of hers you'd recommend? I really like what Chris Claremont did with her in the pages of Uncanny X-Men (Uncanny 150-171, with Avengers Annual # 10 as the starting point for that little run). The end of that storyline actually had her become kind of a cosmic character, and running off with The Starjammers. No one really did much with her until Kurt Busiek brought her back to Earth as a powered down (to her Ms. Marvel power level) Warbird (and giving her a great little personal arc during her membership points during that run) during his great run on the book. (Good chunks of his Avengers Vol. 3 run). Those are two that I usually think of. I've not read most Post 2007 Marvel, so, I probably missed out on some good stories.
