He's probably been the best booked babyface over the last 6 months that they've had in quite some time

I don't get it either. He's as boring as Reigns. Ooh, we got a hot take up in here! Not really since I'm on the same page as the OP (I think). He's putting on great matches but like Reigns he doesn't have much of a character. I'm more into characters and storylines than workrate. I find a guy like Elias far more entertaining than Seth. Plus I'll never forgive him for not working safe with Sting. Maybe the agent was to blame but I have a hard time getting past it.

Doing all the things that WWE thinks are outdated:
Wrestled great matches
Cuts promos and behaves like a babyface- fights with his fists, and believe he can beat anyone in a fair fight.
Doesn’t have a snarky/douchey persona
Isn’t in a “shoot” angle.
By going back to basics, they have a genuine superstar on their hands.

He's like Bret Hart/ 96' Shawn Michaels. He goes out, has great matches, cuts white-meat promos- in a world where everything is a shoot, not really a douchebag face, challenges everyone because he knows he's the best, "BURN IT DOWN"is so hilariously cheesy that it got over, and they gave him a character arc that made fans reason and like him again.
Look at how easy all of that is, and they mess it up with the guy they want to push.

Winning matches helps. A lot of babyfaces are booked like losers too much.

I'm guessing things improved then because before I quit watching he was the least remorseful babyface ever.

Rollins has talent, but lacks the physical size required to become a legendary champion such as Hulk Hogan. As to why he is over, I think the usual ebb and flow of fan's fancies are to be looked at.

Sting had decades of wear and tear, it just so happened to be the breaking point. Blaming Seth for that is ridiculous.

Shockingly enough, pushing a likable character as a face and letting them get big moments gets them over as a face.
It's like being dumbfounded that Johnny Gargano or Daniel Bryan are the most beloved faces in the WWE at the moment just because they're no-frills babyfaces.

He's at least partly to blame. That accident could happen to anyone sure, but the chances are much higher when you're wrestling a man in his fifties. He didn't have to go full speed but he did. Sting wasn't protected at all and like I said, it could be the agent's fault, or even Sting insisting he not hold back. Whatever the case it's a strike against him in my book but the main reason I think he's boring has nothing to do with that. He has no character. He's got the ring skills, and a good look but little else. Like Reigns, he's a guy that looks cool and does cool moves. I need character to get invested.

It's a combination of things starting with last year. - Ambrose reunion. Rollins admitted he was sorry for breaking up the Shield and betraying Ambrose, that was a big thing towards his character as before that no one could reasonably be all in with him. That was a barrier. - Shield reunion. Gave us that old school Rollins we missed. - Curb Stomp returned. - "Burn It Down" being added to his entrance helped people be into his entrance more which is a plus. - Gauntlet match. Rollins not only wrestled for over an hour but he beat both Cena and Reigns clean. This helped show how great Rollins truly was. - WM triple threat. Arguably the best match at WM that Rollins won the IC title in and became a Grand Slam Champion. Since then he's been killing it in the ring. Basically he's returned to his friend loving, great wrestling and championship winning self he was back when people loved him. That's why he's over regardless of what's been handed to him. And he looks like he's having the absolute time of his life doing it. He's happy and that translates to the fans

three words : BURN IT DOWN Very much this. Its a proven fact that wrestling fans love arsonists and this explains why Rollins,Kane,Bigelow and Bobby Blaze were so beloved.

It's nothing short of miraculous how over someone can be when they have a character and an arc that progresses over time. The Dean and Seth reunion storyline was an anomalously good story on a show that usually fails mierably at storytelling, and Seth stepped up to deliver when he was in that position.

Isn’t in a “shoot” angle. By going back to basics, they have a genuine superstar on their hands. The bolded ones there are huge for me. If WWE can get away from relying on those things (snarky douchebags who have to make "shoot comments") so much, I'd have a much more pleasant viewing experience.

Seth has been pushing the narrative on the part-time Brock thing though, which makes me wonder if they aren't building to a champion vs. champion angle. But who am I kidding, all the Universal title matches are just going to Reigns until he wins it.

It's funny that a year ago, we were mocking the Burn It Down slogan on his shirt and in the intro of his theme, and now it's over as f***.

A lot of the reasons have been covered, but I think a huge reason that I’d like to add is that the fans are desperate to see anyone other than Reigns as the top babyface on Raw, and Rollins is the most logical other choice right now (Braun’s too limited to get that spot IMO).
And the Montreal pop is a huge reason too. In retrospect, that reaction that he got there might be end up doing for him something similar to what the reactions for Hogan in Canada did for him at Wrestlemania 18. In both cases, the ovations that they got on television made them look like much bigger stars than they had previously (Hogan’s pre-Wrestlemania NWO run in 2002 was pretty cold). Getting such a star reaction on television even for one night can do wonders for how other crowds react to you.
