Ten more years of “THE BIG DAWG HAS BECOME A POLARIZING FIGURE, BUT HE ALWAYS GETS THE JOB DONE.” Ten more years of figuring out which top babyface gimmick from the past they choose to put onto Roman and pray it succeeds. Ten more year of overcoming the odds and forever wishing the Roman we get in interviews is the Roman we get on TV. Sad.

The problem with WWE's booking of Roman is so simple that it's a shame they don't see how they could've salvaged it or made a lot of money from the beginning.
If the plan was to keep him as a babyface he should've remained the silent, brooding, badass, killer type babyface who didn't need to have overly long promos and catchphrases to connect with the audience. Look at how WCW managed to make Goldberg work without promos. The same concept could've been applied to Roman as his look and charisma at the time was enough to keep the audience engaged, his offense always got a pop out of the crowd, and his mannerisms in the ring pumped them up as well. The second he started talking about beanstalks, babygirls, and sufferin succotash it literally killed any kind of beast aura he had.
Also didn't help that they were trying to book him as the plucky underdog either. Roman with the skull mask walking through the crowd was and is money, however, we're so far gone from THAT Roman that I agree with people here there's no point in salvaging him. I truly believe that Vince is thinking that if he pushes Roman hard enough, has him win a lot, and continues talking about how great he is that fans will just throw their hands in the air and give up like they did with Cena. Vince, in my opinion, does have a weird contempt for his audience and rather than give the audience what they want he books for himself only and people continue giving him money instead of turning it off.

Roman had one moment of greatness, after beating Taker when the boos were so loud he couldn't even speak. He played up to it brilliantly and was obviously thrilled at getting such a hostile reaction. They had something there that they could have built on, but went right back to "here comes the Big Dog!" shit.

I remember the RAW where Roman "roofied" Steph's drink, and they did a comedy bit where Steph puked all over Vickie Guerrero. I remember people posting here then saying that they hoped that was a one off and that they weren't trying to make Roman do comedy bits like Cena, because it would ruin him as a potential ace. Yet here we are years later, that's exactly what they did.

Swerve! The day before the turn, Daniel Bryan announces that he hates puppies, leading to a heel Roman getting cheered.

I do wonder if they told him they were turning him and to play it up, and he did, and that's why he was so happy, because given he does blame fans for booing him, he is probably dying to shit on the crowd. And then they changed their mind.

If they were going to have that legitimately be a heel turn they wouldn't have Michael Cole not 5 minutes later go hyuk hyuk Monday after Mania sure is strange huh? They boo who they usually cheer!
