The CBS affiliate in Los Angeles reported today that former WWF wrestler Tom Magee, who worked for the company in the 1980s, was severely beaten in front of his home in Mar Vista this past Tuesday in what is believed to have been sparked by an argument over who was allowed to park in a parking space in front of his home, leading to the former pro wrestler being attacked by as many as six men, according to one witness.
"They were literally kicking him, punching him in the face and in the head," a neighbor who didn't wish to be indentified told CBS.
Magee, 59 years old, suffered a broken eye socket, broken jaw and a concussion in the attack, which was stopped only when other neighbors rushed to help him, leading to the assailants fleeing.
Another neighbor told CBS, "To me, it was attempted murder. If we wouldn't have come out here I don't know if he would be alive. To look at his face if you saw his face right now and saw what they were doing to him, he's really lucky to be alive."
Two men, Justin Leo, 20 years old, and Degrate Bryant, also 20, were arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapons by the LAPD, who are continuing to investigate the incident.
Magee wrestled from 1985 through 1990, including a run with the WWF from 1987 through 1989, mostly working house shows. He was not given any major television role or sustained push. Prior to his time in the WWF, Magee worked for Stu Hart in Stampede Wrestling and also toured All Japan Pro Wrestling.
Magee has been released from the hospital and has returned home to recover.
